1999?
Surely Prince should've put out another movie then.

Hmm- anyway... I honestly can't think of too many 1999 movies offhand that I saw in theaters or that I saw later and like...but here are some choices for good movies of 1999
-
Probably "October Sky"- I have heard a lot of good things about that. (Though if I've seen any of it, it's only been bits here and there...)
Okay- well, I can't remember if I saw it in theaters, but I will definitely list "Doug's 1st. Movie"- that's definitely awesome.
I do have that on video somewhere, I do believe.
"The Mummy" is probably pretty good, but I never saw that movie- I did see the sequel in theaters later though.

One of the best for the year for me would definitely be "Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace"- that was totally awesome to finally see a Star Wars movie in theaters!!!

Looking on that list, I see that Astérix et Obélix contre César is a 1999 movie too- I would definitely vote for that! (Never saw this one though- but I do love Asterix and Obelix.)

And I'm sure Disney's "Tarzan" would be great but I never did get around to seeing it.

I'd also vote for "Shiloh 2: Shiloh Season" (based on a classic children's book).

And of course, another huge highlight for the year was seeing "Muppets From Space" in theaters!!! I love The Muppets!

And I also saw "Inspector Gadget" in theaters and that was great too- definitely another highlight for the year.

I hear a lot of people talk about "The Iron Giant" and I know that came out that year- but I haven't seen it and honestly don't really care about it- but it does seem pretty cool, so I'd give that a vote too.

"Mystery Men" is a pretty hilarious parody of superhero movies, so that would get a vote too.

And definitely "Dudley Do-Right"- I saw this on video later on and this is an absolutely hilarious movie!

"A Dog of Flanders" is another 1999 movie based on a classic children's book, so that gets a vote too.

And of course- though I didn't see it in theaters- I have to list "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland"- I love Sesame Street! That was definitely a great movie of 1999.

I don't agree with all of it theologically, but I also saw "The Omega Code" (I don't think I saw it in theaters though- I believe this was a video rental)- but it was a pretty cool movie. Never did see the sequel though.

And one other huge highlight for the year has to be "Toy Story 2"- that was an awesome movie! I'm pretty positive I saw that in theaters.

And I can't forget the James Bond movie that came out that year- "The World Is Not Enough"- that was a great movie too! (With Pierce Brosnan as James Bond- still one of my favorites in the role- though I like all of them. I also like Pierce Brosnan for his work on "Remington Steele"- which was essentially training ground for James Bond in some ways. So I could be influenced by that too- and the fact that his Bond movies are the first I remember seeing.)

And yes- "Stuart Little" is based on a classic children's book by E.B. White, but honestly, I haven't read the book and I wasn't real enthused about the movie- so I haven't seen that one. But I'll give it a vote for good movies of 1999. (And Michael J. Fox voices the title character- and of course, I'm a fan of him for "Family Ties" and the "Back to the Future" movies.)

And I didn't see this in theaters, but I also have to list "Galaxy Quest"- I saw that as a rental later on and it's a great send-up of "Star Trek" in general- awesome movie!
