Clapton is numero uno but this list is so short. Where's Keith Richards, David Gilmour and Brian May?

Jimmy Page is great, but I chose Jeff Beck. He's all over the place with rock, blues, fusion. Extremely talented.
'Blow By Blow' is one of my favorite albums. It just seemed too easy to say Pagey, but boy, it's close.

But where's Tony Iommi??

And how about Robin Trower?

Eric Clapton gets my vote for favorite. Keith Richards should have been on that list. He is very talented.

Actually, I'd have Page and Beck neck and neck. Page was a very accomplished composer who was steeped in all sorts of styles as well, even though Beck was more of the virtuoso.

Frankly, I don't get all the hype about Eric Clapton. He was good back then, but a little too mellow for me, even though "Layla" was a very passionate song. I liked him with Cream, however. His newer stuff doesn't do anything for me.

What about Peter Green?

What about David Gilmour?

I never liked Jeff Beck's 1970s fusion music.

Cool

I still wonder if it's possible to switch my vote to Jimmy Page. Back when I was in high school, he was the epitome of all that was great about rock and roll, and guitar playing.
His presence was massive and amazing, and he had wayyyyy beyond the chops to prove it!!! He was so innovative, they did it all!!!

"Our mediocre was better than everyone else's best." --Jimmy Page
