Default Saved by the Bell…Reviewed (savedbythebellreviewed.net)

http://www.savedbythebellreviewed.net/

Quote:
Welcome to “Saved by the Bell…Reviewed”, where we review an episode of the classic television series Saved by the Bell every week. To give credit where credit is due, this site is inspired by Full House Reviewed. I love the fact that this guy has taken on every episode of Full House and has made it a joy to read. I hope to do the same with Saved by the Bell.

Why Saved by the Bell?

I thought long and hard about what series I wanted to review. I briefly considered Growing Pains but I realized that it’s, in reality, an unremarkable standard ’80s sitcom, despite how bat **** crazy Kirk Cameron has turned out to be. I thought about Small Wonder but someone beat me to it. I considered The Wonder Years but it’s perhaps the best sitcom of the time and I’m scared I wouldn’t find as much to mock about it. I considered The Hogan Family and Mr. Belvedere, but I’d be concerned about there actually being enough people who remember those series willing to read about them.

But then I thought why not the series that, if you grew up in the late ’80s and early ’90s, you couldn’t avoid? I mean, I very rarely watched this show growing up and even I knew the names Zack Morris and Screech. Plus, if I really decide to be a masochist, there’s two spin-offs I can eventually do, and, believe me, those truly are bad. And, let’s face it: Saved by the Bell may not be as bad as Full House; in fact, there are many things about it that I love and find entertaining. But, looking back on it, it’s still cheesy as hell.

So, with that, I start this project, with no idea whether it will drive me crazy or not. Please let me know how I’m doing. Since Saved by the Bell isn’t completely despicable, I plan on taking a slightly different tone with it than ”Full House Reviewed” took with their material. But I still hope it will be entertaining, nostalgic, and funny.

The original class was made too difficult to include Screech in it, IMO, but the New Class was not difficult to include Screech.

How exactly is that minor piece of gossip/backstage info seriously relevant to a blog that's main intent is to review the old SBTB episodes!?

What does that even mean? Screech was a perfect fit for "Saved By the Bell"- he served a purpose on the show and Dustin Diamond did a great job performing the character. You can argue that maybe Screech was shoehorned in on "Saved By the Bell: The New Class" (and yes, continuity issues about what happened with Screech's college degree at Cal. U. come up)- but overall, it works for me and I like having him on that show too. I honestly doubt it would have lasted nearly as long if not for Screech and Mr. Belding being on SBTB:TNC.
But, as TMC pointed out, this really has nothing to do with the thread here.
And to get back to the point of the original post, I don't really care for reviews that delight in mercilessly mocking old TV shows, but I trust this one will be done with respect for the enjoyment it obviously brought so many people- at least at one time in their lives or another- and with a lot of fun and nostalgia. (To be clear, I can take some light ribbing and poking fun at some things- but I don't like when it gets mean-spirited.)
Thanks for the link to the reviews- I'll check it out when I can.

Default Hold it...!

The original class cannot respect him perfectly, but the new class, except for Belding, respected him better. The original class should NOT be too difficult on him at all, that's the point. The original class should NOT be put back in public air because the brawl fight between normal fans and mental disabled fans will return, resume and NEVER end.

It's no longer a minor piece of gossip, it is more true than just gossip/backstage info. Screech needed some relief and you may need to get any therapists for him and explain about this.

What I'm saying is that this isn't really the appropriate thread (which is basically promoting a blog that reviews/recaps SBTB episodes) to be discussing stuff like this.

This is considered appropriate, don't get me wrong at all.

If you think Screech fits in the original class, then the original class should NOT be made too extremely difficult for him at all. The original class made Screech uncomfortable, but I'm glad he came to the new class that wants teen popularity with better respect from the new class students in order for him to be relieved.

Again, I don't understand why you need to bring that up when this isn't meant to be the thread about Dustin Diamond personally. That absolutely makes little if any sense in the context of my initial post to be brutally honest. I'm not here to discuss The New Class because to the best of my knowledge, that blog isn't about The New Class.

I personally wish the New Class would be on some channel some where. I havent seen it since the episodes originally aired.

That would be cool. The last time I remember seeing "Saved By The Bell: The New Class" in reruns was when it was running on USA back in maybe the late '90s or so?....

At least they're all on DVD now- that's how I've seen all the episodes. (I did watch some of the show in its original run on NBC as well.)
