Default Happy Birthday St. Louis

This year is the 250th anniversary of the city.
It hasn't aged well, looks 400. A lot of the original buildings are still standing, somewhat. Big celebrations planned all year long around here, the Mayor will show up wearing his party hat. The last time I saw him was when the Cardinals blew the World Series, no...come to think of it he was on tv last week when these arctic temperatures arrived encouraging all the homeless people to stay indoors. What to get a city that has nothing?
Perhaps a new Mayor?

I forgot to mention that you are all invited to the party.
There will be the usual fun party games, Pin the tail on the honky, Bobbing for water moccasins and a piñata filled with yellow jackets. You don't have to worry about parking because some convicted carjackers have volunteered to be valet attendants. Hope to see you.

p.s

If you bring gifts just leave them in your car, the parking attendants will take care of them for you.

Thanks all.
How old is your city? Do you have celebrations like this? I don't remember them doing them before but I wasn't living here on it's 200th birthday.

My husband went to St. Louis a few years ago (I had to stay at home b/c I couldn't get off work!) and he wasn't that impressed with it. My mom swears up and down that I've been but I honestly don't remember going. I must have been really young. I'd like to go again, just to see what it's like.

Seattle was founded in 1869 according to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle, but there are some other dates as well. They really don't do anything much (even for the State's founding, although I did find this. Didn't even know they did this! http://www.seattlefounders.com/FoundersBlog/
