LAKE WALES - Mr. Richard A. Levin, whose stage name was Dick Lynn, 85, of Lake Wales, Florida, died on Monday, December 23, 2013, of renal failure, at Spring Lake of Winter Haven. He was born on July 25, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Harry and Sidell Levin, and moved to Lake Wales in 2002 from Vero Beach. Dick started his entertainment career in Chicago and then went on to perform in the Catskills in his early twenties with his partner, Jerry Coe, performing with acts like Sophie Tucker and Louie Armstrong. He also worked as a solo comic, working the Playboy Club Circuit in the late fifties and performed all over the United States ending up in the Hotel Circuit on Miami Beach while performing with acts like Eartha Kit, Red Buttons, Johnny Mathis and Tony Bennett. His friendships in show business took him into acting roles in "The Bellboy, The Honeymooners, Flipper and The Dom DeLuise Show". And in the sixties he went to work for Jackie Gleason as part of the crew of the "live" color version of "The Honeymooners" with Art Carney, Jane Kean, and Sheila MacRae, and appeared in "The Honeymooners" movies. He continued to work as an entertainer until his children were born, when he made the decision to get "off the road" to spend more time with his family and that was when he changed careers and went into the sales and real estate development business until his retirement. And the Funniest Bit was..... As great of a performer as he was, he was even a better Husband & Dad and found his real joy in life by spending time with his family, friends and in making people laugh. Dick looked for any and every opportunity to bring a smile to everyone that he met. Survivors include his loving wife Sandra, children Danny Levin and his wife Linda of Windermere, Michael Levin and his wife Kathleen of Clermont, and daughter Eraina Levin of Oakland, Florida, stepdaughters Beth Moshier Wallin and Amy Jo Richards and her husband Scott all of Saint Paul, Minnesota, grandchildren Alexander, Zachary, and Richard Levin, Kinue and Courtney Marcinowski, Ronee Moshier, and McKenna, Hayley, and Audra Richards, and one great granddaughter Ariana Johnson. And his dog Bella. Services will be private. |
