Jennifer Lawrence Edges Out Miley Cyrus as AP's Entertainer of the Year

After a year that saw her both win an Oscar for best actress and headline one of the biggest action films of 2013, Jennifer Lawrence ended her very good year on a high note.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire star was named The Associated Press' Entertainer of the Year, narrowly beating headline-maker Miley Cyrus. (The vote was a 15-14 split.)



Lawrence, 23, is "not only talented and beautiful, but comes off as incredibly intelligent, genuine, funny, and well-spoken in her public appearances and interviews," Kristi Runyan of The Derrick and The News-Herald newspapers, wrote.

"It's refreshing to see a young woman not squandering her talent and success by succumbing to the temptations many do in Hollywood and who actively speaks about the ridiculous behavior of some of her peers."



Lawrence is already earning more awards acclaim for her role in American Hustle, which is in theaters now.
