Default 25 years ago this fall; Lori Loughlin joins Full House

Hey guys,

When Full House Debut in the Fall of '87, the show didn't get off to a great start as far as the ratings went, but thankfully, the Network Executives @ abc decided to give the show another chance, and so, Jeff Franklin and the people @ Miller-Boyett Productions and LORIMAR Television decided to make changes:

John Stamos got his mullet cut off and Bob Saget's character Danny Tanner goes from Sportscaster to Talk Show Host for Wake-Up San Francisco-San Francisco's Version of Good Morning America and Dave Coulier's character of Joey Gladstone was still Joey

and one more thing was needed to the show:

a new cast member, and so, the crew behind Full House added a new cast member by the name of Lori Loughlin and the rest as they say, was history

Lori Loughlin was best known for her role as aspiring dancer Jody Travis in the Daytime Soap Series The Edge of Night was hired for the show playing the role of Rebecca Donaldson alias Becky and later Aunt Becky, a Sweet, but Serious/No Nonsense Woman from Nebraska

When she Guest Starred in Season 2 of the series, she was originally only contracted for six episodes of "Full House" but after positive audience reaction, she was given a full-time role. The initial storyline for her was to be just Danny's co-host and go on one date with him, realizing they would never work out in a dating relationship and have their relationship remain just professional. However, when she became a full-time character, they created a storyline where she would fall in love with Jesse and eventually marry him

Lori's character of Aunt Becky was more than a friend and later the Auntie to Danny's Girls DJ, Stephanie and Michelle, she was more like the mother to the girls

During her recurring role in Season 2, Full House pulled good ratings from #70 to the Top 40 landing @ #32 and when she joined the cast of Full House, the series would become a Top 25 Hit for the last 6 Seasons

It was Top 20 from Seasons 4-7 and when the show moved to Tuesday Nights during the 5th Season, it became a Top 10 Hit for 2 consecutive seasons, but Season 5 was their highest peak when it peaked @ #7

Here were the ratings during her 7 year run on the show:

Season 2: #32
Season 3: #22
Season 4: #14
Season 5: #7
Season 6: #10
Season 7: #16
Season 8: #25

and now, 25 years later, Lori is still going strong on television and she still remains close friends with her "Full House" Co-Stars John Stamos, Bob Saget, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen, Andrea Barber who played Kimmie Gibbler on the show, Scott Weinger who played DJ's Boyfriend Steve on the show and of course, Dave Coulier

Here are some of her personal quotes:

"@ first it was awkward having to be romantic with him because of our past relationship in real life, but when I realized that it was professional and we were just acting, it made it a little bit easier not getting caught up in the moment." - about playing the love interest of John Stamos on "Full House" after having a real life relationship with him.

"It was quite an adjustment to me. Before "Full House" my roles were mostly serious soap opera parts playing evil characters. Now I was a squeaky clean morning show host from Nebraska on a TGIF sitcom."

When you don't work for awhile, immediately you get a little black mark next to your name. You have to make difficult choices in your life, and you just have to be happy with them. - on taking her first leading role in "Summerland" since the 1995 end of "Full House".

Well guys, I don't know about you, but IMO, w/o Lori Loughlin, Full House would've never been that successful

and that's your look @ a Full House Moment from 25 years ago this fall;

Everybody looks great in the last picture. 25 years later and still in reruns shows how people still love this show.

I agree. They all look great!

Just like "I Love Lucy", "The Andy Griffith Show", "The Cosby Show", Roseanne", The Golden Girls", and "The Simpsons", as long as there's TV, "Full House" will be on some channel somewhere.

These are wonderful pictures, and I liked the show. Lori was great on it but I really liked Bob Saget. I loved the contrast between his vanilla sneaky clean character and how bawdy Bob can be in other venues.
