The problem was racism is not just with the white community but ALL communities. Koreans do not like Japanese, Arabs do not like Persians or Jews the list goes on and on. I think Archie was a mild example of white racism towards other groups. Yet Archie and George Jefferson by the end of both ATF and the Jeffersons were more tolerant then they were in the early 1970s. I think we can deal with racism but is the will there?

It's apparent to me that this world will never live in harmony and now it's not just about racism, but now we have people telling us what is politically correct or incorrect and we have to protect our religious beliefs like never before. Far be it that we have the audacity to not only believe in God but to worship him too. This is what angers me. I can tolerate my fellow man/woman of any race or nationality as long as they don't cross that line of trying to force me to believe other than what I do and they don't try to take my way of life from me. But the minute they do, it's on!

That's because both George was presented a new situation and didn't know how to deal with it

Archie living next door to blacks for the 1st time in his life

George living next door to whites for the 1st time in his life

How are you being prevented from worshiping? I haven't noticed any churches having to close down.

Not yet but watch, it will happen. People have already fought each other over simply putting up nativity scenes at Christmas. I had a cousin put one up in HER yard and she had nothing but grief from a neighbor telling her that he was offended by it and he went as far as going to the city to force her to remove it. It happens much more than we probably hear about. The bottom line is that it was HER yard and she paid her taxes so it was her call. It was not hurting anyone.

The only instances I've heard of where there have been issues with nativity scenes is when they've been put on public property, which is a violation of the First Amendment. The issue with your friend's neighbor in no way reflects the law. If there is an HOA and it's against the HOA rules (or a city ordinance) where your friend lives, then that makes her action a problem there. But that's between your friend and her HOA (and she chose to live there under the terms of the HOA). While the HOA can tell her what she can and cannot do, the state cannot. And no one is advocating that the state do so (which would also violate the Constitution). It becomes an issue, however, when people try to represent their religion on public grounds. Then you have separation of church and state violations. Most communities have people from a variety of religious (and non-religious) backgrounds. A public square can't represent one but not the rest. Either they include all of them, or none of them.
