Confused The Cosby Show and premarital sex

Does anyone have any idea of what the show's stance on premarital sex could have been?

It appears as if Cliff and Claire were against the idea.

I mean, a couple examples:

- When Cliff implicitly asked Martin whether or not Martin and Denise did it before they got married
- When Cliff said to Theo "I'm married to my prom date" when Theo told Cliff what he (Theo) would be doing on his prom night
- When Cliff asked Elvin "how early in the morning" when Elvin told Cliff that Sondra would make him breakfast early in the morning (or something like that)

Sometimes I wonder how they would advise their children against PS yet seem to be generous about their kids dating at a young age, but I'm not a parent, and I apologize if that sounds naive.

Disclaimer: please DON'T debate the topic of PS - LOL - I'm just asking about the topic within the confines of the show.

Default An Important decision that can't be reversed

First of all, never apologize for NOT being a parent. There are literally MILLIONS of people who should have never been anyone's parent: and'millions that wish they had never become a parent. And still a larger group that belongs to one group or the other, but can never bring themselves to admit it (though their actions, words and attitudes make it very clear).

With being a very pro-family values show I'm sure it would have been against premarital sex. And there's a big difference between dating and sex. Plenty of people date without being intimate.

Darnit, I wish there were a multi-quote feature here but there isn't.

I do hope I'm not one of those people that ends up regretting becoming a parent; there's too much parental pressure from my dad to get married and have kids and although I still do want both, I don't like feeling pressured about it either.

Anyway, this is a very naive question at least to me - how do you discipline your kids about dating vs. being intimate, at least while they are as young as Vanessa and Theo and Denise were when they were dating? It looked like Cliff and Claire did a pretty good job about it even though the kids may not have obeyed it all the time. I'm just wondering what to do for my own kids should the time come, because it seems that they did a decent job for their own kids in this department.

I very seriously doubt ANY parent wants their children to engage in pre-marital sex while still living under their roof. Should a pregnancy occur, just where do you think the baby is going to be living? That's right, in the same room the adult/child is living; rather than in it's own room in the privately owned home of it's parents.

I know that's right. It has happened too many times with people. It happened to a friend of mine in high school where the baby lived with her under her parent's roof.

They briefly addressed it in the one where Theo brings home his laundry and Justine's bra is mixed in with his dirty clothes. They call his apartment and find out that he is living with Justine. I believe they tell him that they don't really condone it and want him to live in his own apartment, but they don't come out and forbid him from seeing her any longer, leading you to believe that they realize he will continue to sleep with her, but live apart.

How the hell would anybody know what the heck Cliff and Clair were thinking they are not even real people they are just characters made up by the producers lol, anyway yeah both Cliff and Clair did not agree with sex outside of marriage but all 5 of their kids were kinda wild i doubt any of them would wait till marriage to whip that private area out lol except Sondra she was a like a saint she might have waited till marriage, theo was living with justine in her apartment case closed lol.
