Here are characters from TV Show's who barely spoke

Judy Winslow from Family Matters she had those awkward moments where she just stood in a corner watching the winslows have cool and funny conversations with Steve Urkel lol.

Morgan from Boy Meets World she was never seen on the show her treatment was similar to judy winslow she was not needed on the show.

The Cosby Show- Sondra Huxtable she was also not need on the show she had little to no personality unlike the wild child Denise her younger sister lol.

Karen Arnold The Wonder Years she had those one liners on the series.

Regarding Sondra, she came into her own later seasons. When she was on the show, she was good and had significance and interacting with Elvin brought another dynamic to her character.

Karen on TWY: I noticed that same thing that you did.

I'd like to add to the list Becky Conner #2/#4 on Roseanne during the final season. She had less than five lines for most of the eps that she was in. I think she only had one line in the ep when the family goes to visit on some rich woman's vineyard. In the final episode, maybe, just maybe she had seven. I could be wrong. LOL..

Patty Duke's Cathy Lane on the last season of "The Patty Duke Show". Cathy was barely around and had only one episode based on her during that season according to some sources.

Just to point out- even background characters or those who only have a few lines can still serve a purpose and still hit at just the right moment with a great one-liner. For instance, Zoot says very few words on "The Muppet Show", but he's used for just the right moments to very funny comedic effect. (Also, he plays the saxophone for The Electric Mayhem, so they need to keep him around to round out the band. )

10 posts in, and nobody has mentioned The Fonz. He only had like about six lines in the first episode of Happy Days.

Well, but Fonzie got a lot more lines as the show progressed- in fact, he probably got most of the lines as the show progressed. But I know what you mean about the first season episodes.

During the well-publicized feud between Delta Burke and Linda Bloodsworth-Thompson on Designing Women, Delta's character Suzanne Sugarbaker had very few lines or wasn't even seen in episodes. Most of her lines were given to Charlene's character.
