Confused What Month was Jesus born in?

It certainly wasn't December. Shepherds did not tend flocks in the winter. Sheep herding generally took place in the spring and summer months. Let's take a look at what the Bible says. Luke Chapter 1 says Mary was told by Gabriel in the sixth month. June? I don't think so. The Roman New Year was March 1 (Bear in mind the months of September, October, November and December are related to the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th month. That would make August the month of Mary's conception of Jesus. Nine Months later Jesus was born, in April, which would be a time when shepherds were tending their flocks. Now don,t come to conclusions, but this a point to ponder.

It really doesn't make any difference what the actual month of Jesus' birth was. Not in terms of what He was sent here to do.

December 25th was arbitrarily chosen for the birthday of Christ in A.D. 321 by the Emperor Constantine to tie in with the pagan Roman observance of the Feast of Saturnalia, which was celebrated in the Empire prior to its conversion to state Christianity. Constantine actually appears to be a worshipper of the sun and enforced this pracetice among citizens of the Empire, for Christians and non-Christians alike.

There is much speculation that Christ may have born in the fall, or mid-October, or even in the spring.

EXACTLY!!!

It is amazing that God would choose to announce his message of Christ's birth to shepherds, who were considered the lowest of the low in Jewish society, before pretty much anyone else of priveledge in that part of the world, except for several royal figures.

If he would do that with them, he could do that with us and tell us great things. He does not restrict himself to the "important" people in society.
