Default The Top 5 Celebrities You NEVER knew were Foreigners

1. Jerry Springer -- While his parents were in the midst of fleeing the Holocaust during World War II Germany, they made a pit stop to London, England, where young Jerry arrived on February 13, 1944. Soon after his birth, the new family relocated to New York City, New York, where Jerry was raised.

2. Wentworth Miller -- This former star of Prison Break was actually born British to a white mother & black father while his American parents were visiting England; Wentworth, soon after the vacay, was raised in Brooklyn, New York from infancy up.

3. Frank Oz -- You may not recognize his name, but the acclaimed film director behind What About Bob?, Housesitter and other notable films was born Richard Frank Oznowicz in Hereford, England on May 25, 1944 to a Dutch/Flemish family; from ages 5 up, he was raised in Oakland, California.

4. Bob Hope -- This legendary entertainer was born Leslie Hope (he didnt change it to Bob until entering Showbiz) on May 29, 1903 in London, England; however, at age 4, he moved with his family to Cleveland, Ohio, where he was raised from that age on.

5. Alan Young -- Best known as Wilbur to TVs Mister Ed, Alan Young was born Angus Young (adapting the Alan after becoming an actor) on November 19, 1919 in North Shields, England; after briefly living in Edinburgh, Scotland, 6-month-old Angus relocated with his Scotch-Irish parents to Vancouver, Canada, where he was raised and often bedridden as a boy due to severe Asthma, where his love for the then-infant medium of Radio first began.

It's too bad Jerry Springer's family didn't remain in Germany. Our tv shows would be much better without the brand of trash he introduced.

I definitely know Frank Oz's name. He worked alongside Jim Henson for many years with The Muppets. (And he still does work with the Muppets to some degree today.) He's also the original voice of Grover, Cookie Monster, Fozzie Bear and Yoda, to name a few.

Mark Addy currently plays Hercules on Atlantis. Quite a different role from Still Standing!

I watched a few episodes of Still Standing and I thought he was american. Wasn't until I heard he was on Game of Thrones that told me he wasn't. I guess getting the american accent down is part of being an actor.

I didn't know Rick Springfield was Austrailan until many years later when I watched a documentary on him.

I knew Bob Hope had to be a foreigner. He even looked an awful lot like the English entertainer Bob Monkhouse.
