TV Update: "Y&R" Backstage Drama betw. Eric Braeden and Michael Muhney

Soaps Shocker: Y&R Fires Michael Muhney
by Michael Ausiello
12/17/13

Worst. Christmas. Present. Ever.

"The Young and the Restless‘" Michael Muhney, who has played Adam Newman for nearly six years, has been let go from the CBS soap, TVLine has confirmed.

Muhney broke the news on Twitter Wednesday, telling fans, “It breaks my heart to say this, but I was just let go from Y&R. My last day on the set is this Thursday.

The "Veronica Mars" vet, whose final episode will air on Jan. 30, went on to say, “I’m going to take some private time with my wife & kids, as I am most concerned for their well-being… I have 3 final episodes to film, and because they are my last, I will be giving it everything I have.

A CBS rep declined to comment.

That's awful news. He has been one of the best things about the show for quite a while now.

Terrible news...he was so good at being so bad on the show. I hope they don't recast the role, but they probably will...

They may be sending Adam to jail, since he hit Delia with his car.

Just found a hot rumor. Take it with caution, but then again, you just can't make this up...A very reliable source says that Muhney was sexually harassing Hunter King, who plays Summer. He fondled her breasts once and did it again when they were hanging out with the actor who plays Fen. King wasn't having it and neither was SONY. She is of age (19) but he's 38 and married! Apparently she went to the higher ups and he was dismissed. JFP(Jill Farren Phillips) is NOT the villain in this- she actually did fight for him to stay (and perhaps settle the dispute within the cast) but SONY insisted he be let go, likely to avoid a possible lawsuit and terrible publicity. Which makes the interview that Muhney gave all the more disgusting.-

Yeah, it's taken with complete caution, because I don't believe any of it.

My instincts tell me there is some truth to the rumors.

Both Doug Davidson and Melody Thomas Scott have said that CBS, Sony had no choice but to fire MM.

Since the actor was one of the biggest reasons viewers watched and yet he was fired, something big must have happened.

TMZ recently released an article on the sexual harassment rumors:

Backstage Y&R Drama Heats Up: Eric Braeden Says Fired TV Son "Wanted Me Off the Show"
by Michael Ausiello
1/10/14

The real-life plot involving the firing of "The Young and the Restless" star Michael Muhney has thickened considerably.

Muhney’s TV father, suds legend Eric Braeden, claims in a new interview that, despite rumors to the contrary, he did not have the actor axed. In fact, Braeden insists Muhney tried to have him removed from the soap.

We did have our differences, but for anyone to say that I had him fired is a lie,” Braeden told Radar, adding that the backstage tension recently culminated in a “shouting match” during which “all kinds of things were said… I don’t remember the specifics of who said what but what I do recall is that I was prompted to get into ‘fisticuffs’ with him because he wanted me off the show… It was a campaign to get me off the show. It was Muhney who wanted to get me off the show and he expressed that to various people.

Muhney was dropped from Y&R in December after six years of playing Adam Newman. Although no official explanation has been given for his dismissal, a recent TMZ report claimed he was axed for allegedly groping the breasts of his 20-year-old co-star Hunter King (Summer).

In a Q&A with Huffington Post conducted immediately after his firing (but before the King allegations came to light), Muhney side-stepped questions about Braeden’s possible role in his exit. He also expressed remorse “for when my character bled into my real life at times and if I was intense a few times.

Muhney’s final Y&R episode is slated to air at the end of the month. The role of Adam is expected to be recast.

Seems like the real soap opera is behind the scenes!

I have to admit, I am enjoying the drama behind the scenes.
It is more entertaining than the show itself.

I know a few weeks ago I posted I believe these allegations against MM. Now, I'm not so sure. I'm confused.
