Default "I Never Killed For My Father"

Family Ties had many great episodes but I think the first season episode "I Never Killed for My Father" may be the very best episode. I like how it dealt with the long time rift between Steven and his father, which would also be addressed in future episodes. I think any son can relate to this episode.

This theme was picked up on a couple of times in the series- another great follow up to this episode would be "Remembrances of Things Past" (Parts 1 and 2). This is an excellent episode as well- but I love all of "Family Ties", of course.

Oh yeah- both of these father-son episodes are good examples of the poignant, dramatic moments "Family Ties" is capable of- with positive messages as well as showing the reality of relationships too.
Of course, the show is still primarily a sitcom of course, and even in the more serious episodes like that, it still had some very funny moments along the way (which is definitely necessary so that the whole episode isn't just a somber affair.)
But there are plenty of totally hilarious episodes of the show that are just laugh out loud funny all the way (at least to me they are)- one of my favorite examples for that has to be "4 Rms Ocn Vw"

I re-watched this episode a couple of weeks ago and I still think its my favorite. And Steven was right, Richard Nixon was a crook!

Was that the one with dialogue along the lines of:

Do you plan to stay mad forever?
That is my plan.

Yes, that was the episode. Also, "there was a kangaroo in my living room."
