I’d love to trade for THE LAST RESORT (1979), the 15 episode sitcom about college kids working in a hotel kitchen.
(Not the 2012 military thriller also called THE LAST RESORT) It was created Gary David Goldberg who, like Woody Allen, had earlier work that was really funny. The humor was like Animal House. It starred Stephanie Faracy (who's had a long career) and Larry Breeding (who sadly died a tragic early death driving in to tape a Laverne and Shirley. He was smoking and a lit cigarette fell between his legs and when he grabbed for the cigarette, his car crashed into a wall.) aired from: Sep 1979 to: Mar 1980 cancelled/ended 16 eps CBS (US) 30 min Larry Breeding as Michael Lerner Robert Costanzo as Murray Stephanie Faracy as Gail Collins John Fujioka as Kevin Dorothy Konrad as Mrs. Trilling Zane Lasky as Duane Kaminsky Walter Olkewicz as Zach Comstock Ray Underwood as Jeffrey Barron • Season 1 0 1-00 UNAIRED Pilot 1 1-01 9211 19/Sep/79 Here Comes the Bride 2 1-02 9201 26/Sep/79 Zach in Love 3 1-03 9203 03/Oct/79 Let Them Eat Cake 4 1-04 9210 17/Dec/79 Girlfriends 5 1-05 9202 24/Dec/79 High School Confidential 6 1-06 9217 31/Dec/79 A Very Little Romance 7 1-07 9208 07/Jan/80 And Murray Makes Three 8 1-08 9213 21/Jan/80 Not a Prayer 9 1-09 9215 28/Jan/80 Father's Day 10 1-10 9209 04/Feb/80 Gone with the Whim 11 1-11 9216 11/Feb/80 The Price of Love 12 1-12 9219 18/Feb/80 Is There a Doctor in the House? 13 1-13 9212 25/Feb/80 Dorm Window 14 1-14 9204 10/Mar/80 Whodunit? 15 1-15 9207 17/Mar/80 Zegelmania The Last Resort (1979) Episode Guide 01x?? - Pilot First aired: Unaired 1 :01x01 - Here Comes the Bride First aired: Sep/19/1979 Director: Asaad Kelada 2 :01x02 - Zach in Love First aired: Sep/26/1979 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Elta Blake (Cybil), Edward Marshall (Mr. Henning) 3 :01x03 - Let Them Eat Cake First aired: Oct/03/1979 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Scott Mulhern (Dexter), Taylor Negron (Armando) 4 :01x04 - Girlfriends First aired: Dec/17/1979 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Wendy Phillips (Sandy), Ken Lerner (Dentist), Stephanie Blackmore (Stewardess) A singles weekend brings an emotional dilemma for Gail. 5 :01x05 - High School Confidential First aired: Dec/24/1979 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Estelle Omens (Miss Stillman), Richard Narita (Kim Sung), John Pappas (Delivery Man) Murray studies for his high school diploma. 6 :01x06 - A Very Little Romance First aired: Dec/31/1979 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Dorothy Konrad (Mrs. Trilling), Ivan Bonar (Mr. Wilson), Richard Stahl (Doctor) Michael and Gail keep their romance a secret. 7 :01x07 - And Murray Makes Three First aired: Jan/07/1980 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Matthew Faison (Carlton), Tamara Long (Joanie) 8 :01x08 - Not a Prayer First aired: Jan/21/1980 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Dorothy Konrad (Mrs. Trilling), Sands Hall (Linda) Zach's mystery date is a nun. 9 :01x09 - Father's Day First aired: Jan/28/1980 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Ronny Cox (Mr. Lerner) Michael's long-lost dad returns. 10 :01x10 - Gone with the Whim First aired: Feb/04/1980 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Dorothy Konrad (Mrs. Trilling), Joanna Barnes (Mrs. Falkenberg) The hotel owner makes an unannounced inspection of the kitchen. 11 :01x11 - The Price of Love First aired: Feb/11/1980 Director: Asaad Kelada Guest star: Lorry Goldman (Stern), Maggie Cooper (Brenda), Dorothy Konrad (Mrs. Trilling) Michael and Gail each have dating troubles. 12 :01x12 - Is There a Doctor in the House? I would love to see it. Gary David Goldberg was always great. I have Stephanie Faracy's final show, Charlie Lawrence on DVD. A very poorly written show, but she was actually pretty funny in it.
