Three's Company Similarities - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

In some ways Alice is similar to Three's Company:

Both shows ran about the same time, Alice from 1976-85 on CBS, Three's Company from 1977-84 on ABC.

Both shows aired at 9pm ET most of their run.

Both shows went through cast changes with the blonde--Alice had Flo, then Belle short term for about a year, then Jolene. Three's company had Chrissy, then Cindy short term for about a year, then Terri.

Both shows produced a spinoff that that lasted a year and half --Alice with Flo, Three's Company with The Ropers. In each case, Flo nor The Ropers returned to their respective shows.

Both shows had series finales that ended in happy endings for all the characters leaving and moving on.

Both shows had silly episodes about an ATM that goes haywire like a slot machine paying off a jackpot. ISTR these episodes airing within weeks of each other, so it probably is sheer coincidence.

And as far as character similarities, I think Janet is like Alice, Chrissy is like Vera and Jack is like Flo.
