Steven and Fallon: Were They Supposed To Return...? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

At the end of season two, Al Corley was fired and the character of Steven was written out of the show. Steven told off everyone and left Denver.

Midway through season three, the character of Steven returned, but this time, he was played by Jack Coleman.

What I'm wondering is: Was Steven's return planned at the end of season two or did the producers feel the absence of the character was hurting the show and decided to bring him back during season three?

Similarly, after Pamela Sue Martin left at the end of season four, her character Fallon was written out of the show in a mysterious car crash. And in the final episode of season five, Fallon returned, this time played by Emma Samms.

I wonder if similar circumstances played out in this instance as well.

Well you can decide for yourself whether your Christmas wish has been answered. From memory Al Corley didn't like the scripts after Series 2,and who could blame him as his character lost credibility with his dalliance hither and thither with heterosexuality and back again. Pamela Sue Martin I think just gave up. Both characters' replacements were inferior,as were the storylines which became all the more incredible down the years,with any realism at the Blaisdel house for example falling by the wayside as the incompetent writers who were just not up to that task concentrated on the rich and greedy at the Carrington mansion,whereupon the whole show fell into the abyss with this hackneyed leitmotif as unrealistic plots and regurgitated characters took hold.

From what I remember Pamela Sue Martin quit Dynasty. The producers tried to get her back but she refused. Dynasty then created the spinoff The Colbys which was to focus on Fallon and her husband Jeff. When PSM still refused to return, that's when they replaced her with Emma Samms.

I really don't remember much about when Al Corley left.
