Exclamation Dustin Diamond Says His Memoir was "Fabricated by a Ghost Writer"

"Saved by the Bell" Book Left Dustin Diamond with Major Regrets
12/5/13

It's been a while since Dustin "Screech" Diamond has been in the spotlight.

The former "Saved by the Bell" star hopped on the phone with HuffPostLive to talk about his latest film, All Wifed Out, but the conversation quickly took a turn for the "Bell".

Diamond revealed that most of his controversial memoir, Behind The Bell, was fabricated by a ghost writer. He also took a deeper look at how his post-"Bell" roles helped and hurt his acting career, claiming that his appearance on "Celebrity Fit Club" was entirely scripted.

"I was playing the bad guy on that show," he said. "That's not at all how I am."

Default reason

Dustin diamond was not a pervert before landing in a role of Screech. It was badly included in the difficult-made original class and it is too dangerous for Dustin to play in.

He gained better relief and respect, plus complete teen popularity, with the new class students. But the ending of the new class was no good because they did not mention his future at all and made him a new principal of Bayside High. They should have added an eighth season so he will depart from Bayside High properly and Richard Belding will return to Bayside as a principal once again.

You may think he portrayed well in the Screech role of the Original class, but unfortunately, I just read back then in a teen magazine that, after the original class ended, Dustin wanted to quit playing the nerd role because of two reasons: 1) it made him unpopular and 2) it made him too mentally ill.

The original class is no longer airing in public anymore due to continued never-ending brawl fights between normal fans and mental disabled fans, especially after the 20th Anniversary Reunion incident.

so is this an excuse to write a new tell-all behind-the-scenes book about what REALLY happened when the memoir was being written?

Don't get me wrong, this is more as a reason, so don't argue with me at all.

For real. Another book to explain the logistics of the first one? LOL. I hear where you are coming from.

I think Dustin Diamond owes his castmates a HUGE apology. The things he wrote (or allowed someone to write) offended them greatly, and he states in the video that he hasn't apologized to them.

Dustin's name was on the book. Therefore, since the book was fabricated, he needs to eat some crow.

I agree. If he fabricated that mess, then he needs to apologize even if it is via camera.

The apology has to be balanced. The original class writers and producers included him and his nerd role in it, but the original class grew too difficultly-made and it made his nerd role imbalanced, no matter how Dustin did or well or not. The "Screech" role need better respect to feel more relieved. Whoever the bad publicity, pretended to be good and trying to order Dustin go against the original class members (cast, writers and producers), might have tricked Dustin Diamond. We don't have the identities of the bad publicity, but we are going to support Dustin, and give him private help to be sent to a cognitive therapist.

This reason is true, do not ignore it, please.

Ire, it does not matter. He committed libel. They didn't. Epic fail.

His apology should be mild, but I have a feeling that someone bad may have tricked him mentally to offend the original class. Dustin still needs private help, especially seeing a cognitive therapist.

Ultimately, it was his decision. I am glad that he is starting to take ownership for his actions.

Alright, let's put it this way. Dustin will apologize, but he still needs to seek private help meeting a mental therapist immediately.

Even if Dustin portrayed Screech well, the "Screech" role did no good on him, unfortunately.

I agree with that, but that's not the fault of the rest of the cast.

Dustin Diamond made the decision to portray Screech for something like 13 seasons. He was paid and paid fairly well to do so. He stayed in the role far too long, and went from portraying a mildly nerdy character to portraying an idiotic freak. No one could avoid being typecast after that type of a role, and he had to have known that when he signed up season after season to continue playing Screech.

None of this is the fault of his original SBTB castmates, nor did they deserve to have lies told about them by someone who worked alongside them for (up to) seven years.
