Does anyone remember why certain Screen Gems logos were butchered when said pre-1974 backlog of shows were reran on TV back in the 1980s and '90s?
A trio of shows made by the company we now refer to Sony Pictures Television were licensed to The Program Exchange (called DFS Program Exchange from 1979 to 1987): Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and The Partridge Family. IDOJ and Bewitched both got CPT logos as early as 1988 (with "Distributed by" on top) in some areas. Those three shows aside (until 1988), we could've seen any of these replacement logos, such as: * Columbia Pictures Television "CPT Pretzel" (1974-1976) * Columbia Pictures Television "Sunburst" (1976-1984) * Columbia Pictures Television "Coke Torch Lady" (1982-1992) ** With "A Unit of the Coca-Cola Company" byline (1982-1988) ** With "A Unit of Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Inc." byline (1988-1991) ** No byline (1982-1991) * Colex Enterprises (1984-1988) ("Colex" was a joint-venture between CPT and LBS Communications) * The syndicated version of the 1988 CPT logo (with CPE byline through 1991) had the words "Distributed by" on top of the screen. * Columbia Pictures Television (1992-2001) * Columbia Pictures Television Distribution (1992-1996) * Columbia/TriStar Television Distribution (1996-2002) ~Ben |
