"Breaking Bad" Creator Vince Gilligan Opens Up about Jesse's Fate
"Breaking Bad" Creator Vince Gilligan Speaks Up About Jesse's Post-Finale Fate: "He Got Away"
by Kimberly Roots 11/26/13 If you are one of the many "Breaking Bad" fans who desperately hoped Jesse made a clean getaway after the events of the series’ finale, take heart: Series creator Vince Gilligan is one, too. “My personal feeling is that he got away,” Gilligan tells GQ, though the mastermind behind the AMC drama also acknowledges the reality of Pinkman’s escape from the Nazis’ compound. Last we saw Jesse, he refused to kill his former mentor Walt, then jumped in a car and sped away from the underground meth lab where he was held prisoner. He was crying. He was laughing. He was finally free. But maybe not for long, Gilligan says. “But the most likely thing, as negative as this sounds, is that they’re going to find this kid’s fingerprints all over this lab, and they’re going to find him within a day or a week or a month,” Gilligan says. “And he’s still going to be on the hook for the murder of two federal agents.” Still, if Walt could stay hidden in a New Hampshire cabin for nearly a year, who’s to say that his protege might not have a similar fate? Though Jesse’s arrest is “the most likely outcome,” Gilligan says, “the way I see it is that he got away and got to Alaska, changed his name, and had a new life. You want that for the kid. He deserves it.” http://tvline.com/2013/11/26/breakin...an-jesse-fate/ |
