"Reign‘s" Queen Catherine better watch out, because Mary’s mom is coming to court.

"Private Practice" alum Amy Brenneman will play Marie de Guise on an upcoming episode of The CW drama.

The actress tweeted the news Monday, calling her maternal role “the badass.”

"Yep,it's true. Off to a wardrobe fitting to play the badass, Marie de Guise, on @CWReign. Watch out, @AdelaideKane, mama's coming!"

Amy Brenneman To Reprise her "Reign" Role as Marie de Guise -- Exclusive

The last time viewers saw Mary’s mother on "Reign", it was at Mary’s wedding to Francis and things didn’t exactly end well.

More specifically, Mary found out that her mother had delivered false news of the Queen of England’s death in order to speed up the process of Mary getting married. Mary then proceeded to kick her mother out of France.

But that might not last long. EW has learned exclusively that Amy Brenneman is set to reprise her role as Marie de Guise in an episode airing in early 2015.

“We are very excited to welcome back Amy Brenneman as Marie de Guise in an episode airing next year,” executive producer Laurie McCarthy said. “You never know what’s coming with Marie de Guise, and this time will be no different as she delivers a series of shocking revelations to Mary, and ultimately forces her to face and confront her failing relationship with Francis.”

McCarthy’s final tease: “And get ready to see how Marie inadvertently causes one of the ladies-in-waiting to experience something they’ve never experienced before!”

"Reign" returns Thursday, Jan. 22 at 9 p.m. on The CW.

Amy Brenneman To Return to "Reign" in Season 3

Things might not be looking good for Francis, but we do have some good news for "Reign" fans. EW can exclusively reveal that Amy Brenneman will reprise her role as Marie de Guise in an episode in the show’s upcoming third season.

As a refresher, the last time we saw Mary’s mother, she revealed her secret: She’s dying. But it seems she’s not dead yet, which is a good thing considering that Mary could really use her mother right now, what with her husband dying and her mother-in-law teaming up with Queen Elizabeth.

Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the where and when of Marie de Guise’s return — might Mary visit her in Scotland? — nor do we know what physical state she’ll be in. But if you ask us, the more Marie, the better.
