Default Does the show get better

Bought this as a blind buy because I love watching 60's sitcoms.

The show is odd upon watching the first 12 episodes of season 1. The humor is dry and the interaction between the 2 leads is stiff.

In my opinion the show really began to hit its stride with the next episode, "Blood is Thicker". and after that, "R# For a Martian". The first season is strong as the chemistry between the leads takes off as the characters get to know each other, beyond those first 12 episodes.

I own all 3 seasons but I have yet to watch a single episode. I may add it to my to-do list for next week.

I watched that episode blood is thicker than water last night about the visiting cousin from a small town. That was a decent ep.

The chemistry between Ray & Bill characters seemed forced and going through the motions. Bill Bixby does tend to chew the scenery at times.

I just have to warm up to this show. This was one show I forgot about. It's not as popular or well-known as Bewitched, Jeannie or The Munsters which are in constant reruns for decades.

The key to this show is Pamela Britton, in my opinion. She brought such a liveliness to her character Lorelei that rubbed off on the cast. The friction between Det. Brennan and Martin becomes tiresome, but with her in the mix, just the right touch is added to keep things interesting.

I can relate to Tim's drooling over some of the young women who appear in the storylines as one-shot characters, but I wish that Lorelei's female relatives would have been the main love interests -- instead of their almost immediate disappearances.

I love Pamela Britton's character. Surprisingly she has good chemistry with the 2 leads. They seem to adore & tolerate her too.

Speaking of relatives. Does the Mrs. Brown's daughter, Angela, appear in more eps besides 2 that I've seen

No, aside from the pilot and then 2 other episodes, The Matchmakers and Man or Amoeba, the character does not appear again, having been dropped without explanation.

That figures. Only in TV land
I was watching the pilot commentary on the Australian release that I bought of season 1 and the poor woman couldn't barely remember the episode she was in. Was everyone from the show dead except her.... The Australian commentator with Ann was basically coaching her along and knew a great deal about the show too.

It was one of those things with the interview, it was a whirlwind time for a young actress.
Her memories were more about Bill Bixby who was a ever supportive actor and very kind hearted.
The Angela Brown character was a last minute add on from the unaired pilot where the intention was to have a down stairs love interest/tension with the Tim O'Hara character.
The network felt it was a way too sexually charged situation so they changed to the younger daughter.
Which felt more tacked on so she was dropped after the fifth episode.

Very tacked on. I wished they had some sort of explanation for whatever happened to her like Mrs. Brown shipping her off to Boarding school or relatives.

Yes I noticed this. She was fond of Bill Bixby who seemed like a likeable actor and none of this Mr. Hollywood crap.

I noticed Miss Marlo Thomas herself made an appearance & a certain young actor named Tom Skeritt. Marlo's face looks different with her old nose & minus the fake eyelashes but I recognized her wig-free flip hairdo. One of the decent episodes of My Favorite Martian. So far I'm warming up to Bill Bixby. He tends to ham it up and realizes he ain't performing Shakespeare.

I'm loving the show now LOL it did get better as the season progressed. Walston & Bixby are more comfortable in their roles and Mrs. Brown is a regular on the show and getting some storylines too.
I'm liking the addition of the suspicious Detective Brennan who also is a rival with Martin for Mrs. Brown's heart. The actor I recall had a recurring role in Dennis The Menace and guest starred on a early Bewitched episode.

You can also see Marlo with her original nose on Dobie Gillis, and Alan Hewitt appears sans toupee on Perry Mason. Alan also did a very weird-looking alien character on Lost in Space, where all you'll recognize is his voice -- if I remember correctly.

One of Ray Walston's most memorable TV appearances was as the manager of a Greek wrestler -- that was on Little House on the Prairie (unless I'm getting it mixed up with something done on Bonanza!). Very lively.

Alan Hewitt I've seen bald in that bewitched episode but I applaud his choice of a toupee it looks realistic on him.

I haven't ran across Miss Marlo's old nose yet on my Dobie DVD set. She must've appeared somewhere in the final season.

Ray Walson I remember played a judge(?) on Picket Fences and played a scientist in a Superboy first season episode.
