Credits include 'Highlander,' 'Flash Gordon,' 'First Wave'
Link David Tynan, a television writer who authored more than 50 original one-hour episodes for series TV, died Nov. 11 at his home in Vancouver following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 62. Tynan’s credits include “Highlander,” “Flash Gordon,” “First Wave,” “Poltergeist: The Legacy” and “Scene of the Crime.” He was a member of the Writers Guild of Canada and the Writers Guild of America West for over 20 years and was recognized by the WGC in 1996 with the first Leo award for best screenwriter in a dramatic TV series for “Highlander.” Tynan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2008 shortly after wrapping “Flash Gordon.” In a statement his family said: “It is worthwhile to mention that David survived longer than 97% of others diagnosed with his particular form of cancer, a testament to how much he loved life and a constant (and pleasant) surprise for the doctors in the medical field. David showed exceptional bravery, perseverance and good humor throughout his illness, and he shall be sorely missed.” |
