Default If there was no Edith not sure why Stephanie was needed on the show

Edith is not really seen at all in this 1st season and I am just wondering why was the Stephanie character still on the show? At that point she wasn't even needed since this show was more of an adult show. Stephanie looked so dumb running inside the bar to say something to Archie

BTW: it got to the point that Edith wasn't even referred to anymore to explain where she was

Regarding Edith: If they mentioned her whereabouts every episode that she was not on, it would be overkill. She occasionally got a reference which was better. Stephanie? Well, I can kind of see your point. At least they stuck with the actress and made it work for later seasons.

Let's just face it. The whole idea for this series was pretty dumb. They would have been better off ending AITF when Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers left.

No it wasn't because I got to see the side of Archie I never saw on AITF

Archie at work and Archie around his friends

Perhaps, but it was a side of Archie that wasn't particularly interesting. He became too mellow on this show.

Because people change over time and don't stay the same

I'm glad that he mellowed out. It goes back to what I said regarding him evolving.

I understand why Stephanie was on.
It was to bring in a younger generation.
Also, viewers would still get to see Archie in a fatherly role. Even more so, since Gloria was an adult on AITF.

Steffie was a second daughter to Archie, which gave some insight of his character as a father and what he was probably like when Gloria was growing up.

From all the episodes I seen during season 1, she had a very small role and really could have been eliminated
