Netflix Revives "The Killing" for Shortened Final Season
Nov 15, 2013 by Natalie Abrams "The Killing" can't be killed! The popular crime drama has been saved from cancellation for the second time in three years. Netflix has revived "The Killing" for a six-episode fourth and final season that will conclude the story of the AMC series for good, TVGuide.com has confirmed. "The rich, serialized storytelling in The Killing thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send-off," said Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix. "We are looking forward to offering fans - both existing and new - a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing." "The Killing" debuted in April 2011 to critical and fan acclaim, but its first-season finale angered many critics and fans by not resolving the central murder of Rosie Larsen. That mystery and several other remaining loose ends were tied up in the June 2012 Season 2 finale, after which the series was canceled for the first time. It was then resurrected when AMC and Fox Television Studios hatched a deal with Netflix. The highly anticipated third season debuted in June this year and delved into a new mystery and killer. Season 3 ended in August with 1.5 million viewers tuning in, up from the 1.4 million who watched the Season 2 finale. However, its overall average for total viewers was slightly below that of Season 2 (1.53 million vs. 1.65 million, and in September, AMC canceled "The Killing" for the second time. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Netflix-...4-1073504.aspx |
