Default Why are small petit females attributed with so much power?

Have you ever noticed the bigger and stronger a man is, the MORE he's looked at as dominant, tough, powerful and ppl know they better not cross him.

Yet the smaller and weaker a man is, the more ppl look at him as a wimp or a JOKE.

But with women it's just the opposite, usually if there's a tiny little petit women with NO muscle of physical strength what-so-ever, ppl always seem to want to put her in a powerful, dominant TOUGH role.

Ppl are always saying things like, "You better not cross that little spit-fire, she'll light into you!"

But most ppl would never say that about a tiny little man, if fact they'd usually say stuff like, "You think I'm scared of that little pip-squeak!?"

But with a tiny little woman ppl are like, "I wouldn't wanna get her mad at ME!"

What's funny is the tiny small man might know 2 or 3 martial arts and even BE truly tough, and ppl would still wanna challenge him, BUT the small woman might not know any of those skills and ppl act as though she's fierce.

I think this shows in TV shows a lot, like Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies, obviously physcially the WEAKEST one in the family, but they all acted terrified of her, Even JED, sometimes and he was a rough ol mountain man.
Probably if it were a tiny little 90lb GRANDPA trying to boss everyone around, Jed would just stand up to him and not be intimidated at all.

Or like Carla Carletti*sp* on Cheers, she looks about 5'0 and 90lbs yet all those big slobby HUGE guys all act intimidated by her.

In the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, ppl are always complaining about how the new Freddy is only 5'5, and that he's too short and tiny to be scary or take serious, BUT ppl have no problem finding the WIcked WItch of the West scary and terryfying, who is only about 5'1.

And look at poor Barney on The Andy Grifith Show, most everybody looks at him as a joke, but if it were a scrawny little femaly deputy acting all tough like him, everyone would prolly snap to attention immediatly.

And there are a lot of others.

What's funny is, it seems like smaller women even get looked at as tougher and more fierce that BIGGER stronger women who could actually DO some physcial harm to you.

Like I saw once a 6'0 muscle girl bossing around a guy and he was just like, "Yeah whatever, SHUT UP!" But then like a 5'3 100 lb girl told him something to do and he was like, "Yes ma'am, just don't get mad!"

Has anyone else noticed this, it's somehting I just don't get. I always tended to be more scared of ppl who could actually DO harm to me.

My mother in law is 4'9" and she's a toughie! She taught my husband to box and she takes no crap from anyone!

Google "Roseanne Barr", then reevaluate your theory...

That's what I'm talking about.

If it were a MAN who was 4'9, he would probably get pushed around by most people and, no matter HOW tough he came across. And if he ever tried to stand up to someone, ppl would love intimidating him and slapping him back down and making a fool out of him.

I'm also reminded of Judge Judy, whome I love, but everyone acts indimidated by her, but I remember when her husband had his own court show and he is basically a male version of her, he's a tiny little aggressive man who tells ppl how it IS, but I hear SO MANY ppl make fuin of him and call him a joke or a SISSY even. But ppl would never call Judy, I just don't get it.

Ok look I'm not saying EVERY case, but in general it seems to happen that way.

On TV shows, whenever these is a tough aggressive woman who doesn't take crap of anyone, she's usually always a tiny little 5'0 90lb woman. BUT if there is a tough man who's the same way, he's always gotta be 6'4 and muscle bound.

And as far as Roseanne goes, she might be heavy weight wise, but she definitly has no muscle and is pretty small in every other way, as far as heigth, etc..... in other words, PHYSCIALLY, realistically I think John Goodman could kick her butt in a fight, but he acts scared of her.

Didn't you start an almost identical thread earlier this year?

Perhaps you should just say people should not hit people. If Jethro decked Granny or if Fred whalloped Wilma, most people would frown at it. But even though Jed or Jethro would never hit Granny, do they really respect as an intellegent and wise person, or is she a loose wheel that needs to be watched and needs to be treated like a child.

Most people I know would never think of striking another person (unless to protect ones life) and never hit someone just because they were being mouthy and I'm sure most people would never think of it either. You certainly have you unique and often enertaing way of viewing things, Frump.

I think he has a point though. You're more likely to see a tough small woman than a tough small man on TV shows.

Exactly, whenever there is a small man on TV he's USUALLY always looked at as a joke. Like Barney Phife~sp~ or Judge Judy's husband.

Does anyone here know what it feels like to be stalked and harrassed? That is what this PERSON is doing to me for about a year now. He follows me all over the internet, gives out the street address of my 94 year old grandma, impersonate my family members on forums, send viruses to my computer, etc..... Can ANYTHING be done about him??!

If you check his posts out here there are 7, which I'm sure are all replies to ME. He's taken a very unnatural interest in my life.
