Default 80s comedies you've sampled since 2000 but didn't like?

What is at least one comedy of the 80s you've sampled since '00 but have not really liked?

For me, that would have to be Designing Women. I very recently purchased the #1 DVD release, because I thought that it would be a very funny show (I had seen some at my sister's house in 'Bama a time back and had that impression). Appearances are very deceiving, however-- I found it to be very unfunny and tedious, and in spots, very didactic.

I can't really say since 2000 since I watched them in their original run but the one show from the 1980's that I did not like was Designing Women.

I'm glad that the feeling is mutual! Did you dislike it along the same lines I did, or did you have different reasons?

Shows from the 1980's I discovered in the 2000's and didn't care for:

Alf - The Hub has aired the show for a few years now. I was excited to sample complete episodes at first, but didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped. I can list a handful of shows The Hub should have kept instead.

Bosom Buddies - It wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't a favorite. This was a "blind" sample on TBS in the early '00s. I watched about 15 episodes on Saturday mornings. I don't think I'll watch the show again.

The Cosby Show - Definitely not the worst show of the '80s. But I still don't understand the big fuss and popularity surrounding this show. I saw a few episodes on WPIX during the '90s, but didn't really sample it until 2002 on TBS and Nick at Nite. Though I've attempted several times on TV and never made it through, I do have half the series in my collection. I hope to watch the entire series sometime down the line. But as of the last decade, the show hasn't won me over.

Kate & Allie - I only watched a few DVD episodes, and I believe the show had a very short run on Oxygen this past decade. I didn't like any of the characters or stories. The show also seemed very oddly dated.

I even tried Webster, the 1983-89 ABC/syndicated comedy starring Emmanuel Lewis, in its #1 release-- I believe I found it at least as unwatchable as DW (I forget whether it was for the same reasons or different reasons).

All of the shows mentioned thus far are fun and funny enough to me- particularly ALF- I love that show. And Webster too. The Cosby Show is a great show too. Kate & Allie, Designing Women and Bosom Buddies- I have seen some of all of them, but I don't care that much about them. But I do love the theme song for "Bosom Buddies"- Billy Joel's "My Life". And it is pretty funny to see Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari working together on that show, since I like both actors pretty well.
For 1980s comedies I don't like- I remember "Married...With Children" and "Roseanne" when they first started in the '80s- I didn't like them and I don't like them now. They're both generally rude and crass and not my favorites- no offense to any fans of these.

Oh yeah- "Murphy Brown" is another sitcom from the 1980s that I don't like.

I've always been a "Murphy Brown" fan. I love the cast---it's one of the best ensemble casts in history.

Diff'rent Strokes - majority of seasons were '80s. However, the dialogue was too straight-forward and less witty. And the characters don't interest me.

Designing Women - just plain dull, and jokes were too contrived

Perfect Strangers - the accent of some cousin is very grating

Kate & Allie - stories unmemorable

The Golden Girls - funny when you first watch every episode. However, Blanche's repetitive sex stories, Rose's dumb demeanor, Dorothy's uptightness and seriousness, and Sophia's cruelty get to me. And they are everywhere in every episode.

Night Court - Just weird and contrived

Some show starring Alan Thicke and some kid named "Cameron" or something, who is now a grown-up devout Christian - just never bearable when you watch it again, especially the stories

Some of the storylines and moral stances on issues. I do recall that it was pretty infamous for a while because it depicted Murphy Brown having a child out of wedlock in a positive manner, rather than as adultery and not a thing to be celebrated. (Vice President Dan Quayle decried this at the time.)
Honestly though, it's been a long time since I've seen it- I just never remember getting into it much as a kid. I suppose I could try it again at some point- but I don't really have access to the show and don't really care about watching it.

I particularly love "Perfect Strangers" and "Growing Pains" and "Diff'rent Strokes" myself- the rest of the shows listed are generally okay too (though not all are the best.) That's okay though- to each his own.

I agree on Designing Women (it's ok but not that great), Kate & Allie (boring), Bosom Buddies (not that great), Married...With Children, Roseanne, The Golden Girls (I think they're all awful)

Also Square Pegs (boring), Barney Miller (really boring) (lasted into the 80s)

Gimme a break and Hogan Family are ok although kinda boring
