I understand that The reason Bill Cosby gave lisa bonet a chance to make a better life for herself was to make a spin-off where the show is mostly about her and her college life but it backfired and she bailed out on the show and the other cast members on A Diff'rent World, its not uncommon to replace someone else it happened on Family Matters and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air another vivian and another harriet lol, Bill Cosby should have cast Halle Berry to play the Denise character she looks alot like lisa bonet.

Absolutely not! It was not that common to replace another actress plus Lisa Bonet has strong ties to "The Cosby Show". Halle Berry was not even on the canvas yet. She did not bail. It was decided that she would go back to "Cosby" plus she was pregnant. I never saw any resemblance between the two. Recasting Denise would not have worked.

Lisa and Halle are both light skinned Thomas E and they are both skinny dont that count for something, dude have you seen the major change in skin tone on The Fresh Prince of Bel where Vivian was once Dark-Skinned and the next season comes back light skinned i guess viewers were suppose to think her character had the Michael Jackson syndrome lol.

I think the producers made the right choice in turning ADW into more of ensemble show after Lisa bonet's departure. An ensemble lead by Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy as Dwayne and Whitley!

It makes me wonder how things would've been different had ADA gone through its original concept (instead of initially being the "Denise Huxtable Goes to College" show), which was about a young white woman (which presumably explains Marisa Tomei's character) attending an historically black college. |

The general opinion it seems is that A Diff'rent World actually became a better show when Whitley and Dwayne replaced Denise as the lead characters come Season 2. Not that it's really Lisa Bonet's fault, but it was like the producers were so preoccupied with keeping Denise a "good girl" that she ended up being a wet blanket in that setting. Whitley and Dwayne didn't have that "baggage", so they wound up being funnier and more interesting in comparison.
