Question about female voice doing Updates. - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

So after the original UM ended in 2002, it continued in re-runs on Lifetime and in 2006, it transitioned over to Lifetime Real Women. In 2007, it was removed and hasn't been broadcasted since.

Despite the show being re-runs, updates were still done to certain cases as late as 2007.

Does anyone know who the female voice was? I think it might have been Keely Shaye Smith, but I'm not positive.

I remember the female voice doing updates to the original Kevin Hughes and Harold and Thelma Swain segments in 2005. But she sounded nothing like Keely Shay Smith, IMO.

I don't believe it was. I seem to remember hearing the voice doing other random Lifetime ads (my ex-girlfriend had a penchant for watching bad Lifetime movies, then laughing about them, and I'd sometimes end up getting sucked in

), so I think it was someone in-house at Lifetime. And it doesn't sound the way I remember Keely's voice sounding.

I'd say bell is probably right: it was someone at Lifetime. The voice didn't sound at all like Keely Shaye Smith.

Wasn't Keely only with UM for about 2 or 3 seasons (late 1993-mid 1996, I even forget if she was still there in the 96/97 season)? I think she was long gone by then, and chances are it was a woman who worked at Lifetime.

You could tell, they gradually put less and less effort into the Updates (i.e. in the late 90s they began just doing the text over the dark blue screen), but at least they still did them and it seemed like they genuinely were involved in the stories. As late as 2002, they had detailed updates sometimes, such as the arrest in the Lisa Kimmel case.
