My favourite is SVU (With Criminal intent in 2nd place)

I think it sucks that USA shows the episodes IN LETTERBOX!! (Complete crap)

I liked them better WHEN THEY WERE FULLSCREEN

I picked because overall I couldn't decide.
I liked the original from the beginning up until Lenny left, can't really get into after that.
I like SUV as well
Criminal intent is ok, but gets too strange...

In all honesty, I've never watched an episode in my life outside of a couple of minutes while my wife was in the hospital in labor. I don't see the appeal, honestly.

I used to watch SVU pretty regularly around 2005-2006. I stopped watching because I felt like there came a point where the writers were trying to out-do themselves on the shock factor--specifically, an episode concerning a young teenage girl finding out she was in fact born male with malformed genitalia, and her parents made the decision to have her undergo surgery and raise her as a girl alongside her "identical" twin sister. I'm sure something similar to this has probably occurred somewhere at some time. But I absolutely could not take it on SVU. The entire plot was so over-the-top and contrived it was ridiculous.

CI sucked from the beginning.

I liked the original up until Jamie Ross (Carey Lowell) left the show. It got worse when Fred Thompson was on the show.

Technically, Law and Order isn't a true crime show. It's fictionalized. I think what's confusing about it for some is that they take current topics in the news and put their own spin on it. Doesn't say much for their writers. There are a couple of forums for it in the Dramas section (both current and classic) here on SitcomsOnline.

Never thought much of Fred Thompson as an actor.

Perhaps, I've never seen it. Every thing I have seen him in, he was slow-talking, boring, dull, drab. Not to get too political, but he was supposed to have breathed life in the field for President, but he didn't. And he was an actor.

I liked Criminal Intent first, then tired of Vincent DNofrio. Quickly liked SVU better. But only the old episodes with Meloni, Belzer, Cragen. As soon as they started transitioning out I stopped watching. Love the main show. Didn't care for the years following Jerry Orbach's death as much, don't care for Fred Thompson (as an actor or politician), wasn't big on Dianne Weist either. Didn't like Unsolved Spike Mysteries host Dennis Farina much either but he has grown on me. Also don't love the first season as much because of George Dzundza, liked Paul Sorvino a lot though. Last seasons had some ok moments and meh moments. Wish they could bring it back (the regular show, not Menendez crap).
