Reading the main thread someone mentioned this deserved its own, and I agree.
I honestly lean towards it not being her. That was 5 years after she disappeared, and hundreds of miles away. Eyewitnesses are often unreliable, and 9 to 14 is a big jump, if Anthonette was still alive then, she might've gotten alot bigger and aged a bit. It's very very hard for someone local to have even known about her (beings that this was in the UM segment, this was a year before it aired it obviously), much less been positive about it. Hypothetically, if it was her, did she attempt any escapes before that? And I'd sure think a 13/14/15ish teenager would be a little more street smart and not as naive as they made her out to be. I'm guessing it was another girl totally unrelated. In that case, was she in serious trouble or just messing around? I'm torn on that. She was in public and could've made a run for it, could've screamed for help, etc. I'd hate to think that girl was the victim of another kidnapping. If so, makes you wonder why they'd chance it with taking her out in public. Even in cases where the victims live (i.e. Jaycee Dungard), they've usually held captive for so long and become so used to their "new" life that they think of it as normal. Which is heartbreaking in itself. |

I honestly thought about making this thread a couple of weeks ago, haha. But anyway, I too do not think the girl at the restaurant was Anthonette. I am probably leaning towards 75/25 that it was a foolish prank or just some teenagers messing around over an actual abduction. The girl may no real effort to seek help, IIRC, and if she were truly the victim of an abduction she had the perfect opportunity to do so considering she was in a public place.

I honestly am wondering if that event even happened? It'd be fairly specific and random for someone to make up (much less pretty cruel to do), but we don't have any proof (aside from the waitress' word) that it did. If it was legit, it's hard to say what motive the girl and/or the people with her, could've had in making it all up? Yet, if it was a potentially dangerous situation and she was in trouble, she definitely had the chance to get away and go for help.

Has there ever been a case on the show where a "witness" "saw" someone they didn't know, and it actually turned out to be that person?
