I work part time at Lowe's and we had Christmas stuff out way before Halloween.

YES! It's been awesome!

Of course, I get excited for Christmas any time of the year- I love that season. But I don't consider it officially the start of the Christmas season until the day after Thanksgiving in America.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me- yes, I understand the point about the commercialism aspect and that is disheartening. But companies are in business to make money. And Christmas is their biggest money-making time of the year. I don't really care about Halloween, so I'm glad to see that holiday finally just about over. (Sorry to all the fans of it- just not a favorite for me.) I actually really love the historical and religious significance of Thanksgiving, since it represents the successful winter that the Pilgrims survived due to the grace of God, Whom they thanked at this time. It's a great reflection of the Christian heritage of America.
And Christmas is a great reflection of the Love God has for us as it celebrates the time when Jesus came to be born as a baby on Earth, so that He could grow up and die on the cross for all the sins of the world and rise again on Easter! I love both Christmas and Easter because I love Jesus because of His great love for me and everyone! And I celebrate both Christmas and Easter- and most of all Jesus- every day of the year!

I just don't like how much they "Sneak" the decorations out each year. There was a day when you did NOT see anything Holiday-Related until Thanksgiving Day itself. On Black Friday the stores opened AT THEIR NORMAL TIMES. Yes, the stores were crowded, but this was accepted for this time of the year. The Stores were closed on Sundays, The only thing open in the Mall on Sundaywas the Movie Theatre (And maybe a Penny Arcade if you were lucky).It was surreal walking through the Mall in bold daylight and seeing all the stores shuttered. One of the things I looked forward to during the Holidays was seeing the Department Stores GREATLY expand their Toy Departments, something you don't see them do anymore. (It kind of faded off in the 1970s)

It's crazy how early they Christmas decorations up for sale in the stores. Here they are in stores starting August each year. I remember making a thread a few years ago where I was surprised to see Christmas related items in stores in August. I think four months is too early.

Halloween merchandise was marked 50% off in the beginning of October with Christmas merchandise moving in the same weekend!

What gets me is that our local Meijer Store pulls all of the Christmas stuff off of the shelves a week before Christmas and begin stocking those shelves for Spring! Gardening stuff and the like. Can't they wait another measly week?

New York (CNNMoney) - Forget Turkey. This Thanksgiving, you can shop at Kmart for 41 hours straight -- starting at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day until 11 p.m. on Black Friday. It appears to be the earliest opening yet of any retail store for Black Friday shopping. Black Friday, usually the day after Thanksgiving, is considered the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season. On that day, retail stores offer deep discounts to lure in customers.

In recent years, Black Friday has slowly been encroaching on the traditional Thursday Thanksgiving dinner. While stores once waited until midnight on Black Friday to open their doors, many are now opening earlier in the evening on Thanksgiving Day -- a move that has prompted outrage from customers who don't want their feasts and celebrations interrupted. Kmart has opened at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day for the past three years, but this is the first time it isn't closing its doors at all.

Last year, the store closed for a few hours at 4 p.m., presumably to let shoppers and employees eat Thanksgiving dinner. The retailer re-opened its doors again for deal hunters at 8 p.m. Parent company Sears said Monday it will wait a little longer, and open its doors at 8pm on Thanksgiving Day, which falls on Nov. 28 this year. That's also the same time Macy's is opening, in order to give families time to finish their meals before hitting the aisles.
