I've wondered about this man for so many years. This April, he was finally positively identified by DNA after 32 years as Howard Hardin, reported missing from Knoxville, TN in 1981.
http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/ap...er-article-of/ His homicide remains unsolved, although this is certainly a huge step closer to solving it. It should be noted that it was an age-regressed photograph in the Knoxville News-Sentinel that caught the attention of Hardin's family, who noticed a resemblance and contacted authorities. Additionally, scientists at the Smithsonian Institute examined the then-unidentified Hardin's teeth and were able to determine he was from the Southeast U.S. and was probably local. An incredibly amazing effort that makes me proud to be a native Knoxvillian.
