Who else here absolutely, positively HATES those ads that automatically pop up onto your computer screen every time you go to a different address? Oh, my gosh, sometimes I just want to kick my computer but I don't because it'll break and my mom will yell at me and I don't have the money to pay for a new one so I just calm down and breathe and relax!

I hate 'em too. There are a number of different programs you can download to help make them go away. I use Pop-Up Killer with success. My dad has one called Pop-Up Stopper. These programs are usually small and well worth the stress relief.

Now, some ads are called "pop-under" where the ads show up but they don't appear on top of the browser you are looking at. The pop-up killer programs don't kill pop-unders.

As for the ubiqutious X-10 camera ads, if you go to their website you can submit a request to not recieve those ads for like 30 days or something like that. So you'd have to go back every 30 days or so. But trust me, if you have a pop-up killing program, the X-10 ads (which use pop-under technology) aren't really bothersome at all.

My Pop-Up Killer is supposed to kill the GeoCities boxes too, but it doesn't for some reason. And if you do get a program like this, keep in mind you will have to temporarily disable it for certain cites. For example, if you click on a program at TVGuide.com you have to turn it off you want to read the program description. Similarly, if you click on the "Get More" thing by the smilies on this page, you have to disable it.

They are pretty annoying, especially with AOL. That's why I'm harldy around here when I'm home from college. That, and my little ister is always hogging the computer or phone.
