Bruce Campbell Confirms Army of Darkness 2 - How Serious Is This?

Hoo-boy. The Internet is buzzing this morning because Bruce Campbell confirmed to a convention crowd that Army of Darkness 2 is going to happen.

You may recall, a sequel to the early '90s cult classic was discussed earlier this year during the press tour for the Evil Dead remake. Then, producer Rob Tapert revealed that there wouldn't be an Evil Dead 4 but an Army of Darkness 2.

Campbell later fanned the flames of this chatter at WonderCon, teasing that there could be not just an Army of Darkness 2 but a crossover picture that would combine Ash's journey with Mia's tale from the remake.

Just how serious is all of this though? Campbell commented on the sequel at Wizard World Nashville.

“The last one was twenty-two years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here.”

When the fan told him a lot of people would want to see it, Campbell said:

“Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it.”

Then Campbell got more serious, and he added, “Alright sir, the answer is yes.”

There have been rumblings that Sam Raimi, Tapert and Campbell were focusing less on a sequel to Evil Dead and more Army of Darkness 2.

Just how serious is all of this getting? Time will tell, I suppose, like all things. I'd, personally, take it with a grain of salt for now until we start hearing about this from the lips of Raimi and Tapert...

There won't be an Evil Dead 4, but an Army Of Darkness 2...Uh, same thing. Army Of Darkness is Evil Dead 3.

I would hope they continued from the original ending, but that probably won't happen since it wasn't the ending released in the States.

Unless he just meant that they'll be calling it Army of Darkness 2 rather than Evil Dead 4.
