Does anyone hear this show called, "Mel's Diner"? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Half of the time when I talk about "Alice" ppl don't know what I'm talking about then if I say "The show about Alice who worked at Mel's Diner", ppl are like, "Oh YEAH! Mel's Diner! I remember that show!" hehe

Yes, and I constantly have to correct them! Even after I correct them, they still insist that the show is called Mel's Diner!

Same for me, and I'm wondering if at one time Mel's Diner was like an alternate title to it. B/c my friend and I both seem to remember in the 80s when it aired on TBS, that it was announced as Mel's Diner in the line up.

My grandma calls it Mel's Diner. It really should have been called Mel's Diner from the start.

Alice was always going to be called Alice. The idea was the story to be centered around Alice, a single mother raising her son the best she could. Mel's Diner and the other characters were going to be just a small part of the show, much like the movie. When Flo becoming increasingly popular, the focus of the show changed.

I think people would remember Mel's Diner a lot more than Alice. The show pretty much revolved around the diner for 9 years
