Default Are there any shows...

past or present that you think lasted or have gone on too long?

two that come immediately to mind are TWO AND A HALF MEN-CBS should have canceled it when Charlie Sheen was fired-and THE SIMPSONS-it's gone on TO long. And I just read that Fox has renewed it for a 26TH SEASON!!!
As Bart would say: AY CARUMBA!

"two and a half men" should have ended before the pilot was even shot...

The Simpsons should have ended 15 seasons ago.

15 sounds about right. The last consistently great season was Season 8, which was 1996 - 1997. I would accept 9 and 10 into the canon even though they weren't as good as the classic years, but everything after that is crap.

As for other shows...there's plenty! It's American TV tradition to milk the hell out of hit shows far past their expiration dates. But as for recent examples, The Office probably should've ended a good 2 or 3 years before it did. After Steve Carrell left they were basically treading water, although they still managed to put together a pretty decent final season (though it still wasn't at the level of the show at its peak).

well, whatever number everyone thinks we all agree the show's past it's prime.

Now if only someone would convince Fox of that!!!

I finally gave up on The Simpsons last year (season 24?), I just wasn't enjoying it anymore and decided there was better things to do.
