Andy Griffith as Marshall Dillon on Gunsmoke......
I have been watching Gunsmoke lately, a show I basically have watched all my life.
No one could replace James Arness on the series, but I thought that Andy Griffith might have done a competent job in the role. There is even so,what of a Barney Fife role with Chester and Festus. Barney himself would have been killed the first episode, but Andy looks like a cowboy who knows how to use a gun. James Arness as Andy Taylor might have been a stretch though. Shooting Ernest T Bass and living in a dry town with no gambling might have bored him silly. |
