Default Rosemary DeCamp

I like Rosemary DeCamp and she would have been a logical addition to the cast, and the show would have had more continuity with the girls going to their mother's sister since their own mother had passed.

Of course, no one could replace our beloved Bea, but I think the show would have fared better during the later seasons with Rosemary than with June Lockhart. Not that I don't like Ms. Lockhart (loved her in Lassie) and she is a very attractive woman, but her character didn't totally fit in with the premise of the show, which was about an inn and inn-keeper and her family.

I agree! i always wondered why they didn't just make Rosemary DeCamp a regular after Bea died rather than bringing in June Lockhart. A doctor setting up her practice in the lobby of a small hotel never did make any sense to me!

As mentioned in the thread regarding Bea's passing away, there's been discussion on another website regarding why Rosemary never became a permanent cast addition. It was due to her other commitments, from what I recall.

Regarding June, she has stated that she herself initiated the idea of coming on to PJ and becoming a cast member. This of course followed the end of her Lost in Space series work, and was something she wanted to take on.

I seen Rosemary on The Life Of Reilly with Jackie Gleason. I wished she would have gotten her own show. I think she would have made a good addition to Petticoat.

I agree, June Lockhart's character wasn't a good fit to the series. Apparently Rosemary DeCamp wasn't available.

She played Mrs. Smith-Standish, the woman trying to trace Jed Clampett's ancestory. Interestingly, Bea Benederet was also in this 2 part- episode as Pearl.
