Thought Apt 1901 - Let's talk

Let's talk about the greatest fictional apartment ever filmed. Frasier's apartment. What do you really love about it?

The kitchen wasn't created until after the show was in production.

If you could ask the writers or set designer(s) a question or two, what would you ask them?

Default What I would ask!!!

I would ask the set designers and writers...

Frasier was in Seattle for about six months before he had Martin move in. It was mentioned on a few occasions that Daphne's room used to be Frasier's study.

What do you think Martin's room would have been used for for those six months before he moved in???

A guest room???

Default What I like about 1901

I always loved the view and most of the art work - paintings by the fire place, etc.

I also like the fact that Frasier has so much bedroom space, that his bed is not touching a wall.

I like how Daphne's bed is diagonal in her room.

And how many apartments have more bathrooms than bedrooms: One for each room and the one by the front door. (The blue print above shows yet another bathroom down the hall from Daphne's room or what is that room?).

Oh No Floor plan to floor plan

I like the "blue" print better than this blue print in color.

Look at Frasier's bathroom. The color print shows some sort of ledge or walkway around Frasier's tub and Martin's bathroom to the back of Frasier's tub. Well, that just won't do. We have seen Frasier in his tub with the stained glass behind his tub and even an episode where there are shadows of tree branches.

Not to mentioned the unconfirmed extra room down the hall from Daphne's bedroom.

Heart This is kinda cool

Here is
1) the original prints,
2) my "cleaning-up" of the prints many years ago - I improvised on the text that I couldn't read.
3) today's "cleaned" prints - I put a planter on the outside of the stained glass windows of Frasier's bathroom

Enjoy

Oh, I absolutely love this! So cool! Hmm... I think my favorite thing about Frasier's condo is the view; quite stunning and I love the balcony as well. I don't really care for the kitchen all that much b/c I thkn it's a bit small; as you can see them maneuvering around each other while trying to cook or clean or even feed Eddie. You'd think a condo of that magnitude would have a better kitchen. I envision it to have an opening on either side so that you could just walk into one side and walk out of the other. As for what Martin's room was used for before he moved in, I would say a guest room b/c I'm sure that Frasier anticipated many visits from Frederick. I love that first shot b/c it makes me feel like I'm really in his condo! So cool!

Hmmm. I like the fireplace, the balcony and the view, and the piano. And I guess I like the couch. The rest of it not so much, but it totally suits Frasier. I especially hate Frasier's artwork!

Oh and another thing. What's with that ugly column on top of the low book case near the fireplace? Was it supposed to go all the way up to the ceiling? I never understood that. I think it's ugly and unnecessary. I don't think it really fits in with the rest of the apartment. And there aren't any other ones in the apartment so I don't know why it's there. I just don't like it.

Ed, thanks for a great post (about the post). HA! My personal opinion about that post is that it is there for structure support.

Most likely. But it's still ugly!

I didn't think I had seen this before but apparently I had since I replied to it a while back. But even so, I'm curious about something. In that first picture that looks 3-D (and is completely AWESOME by the way!)... The area next to the fireplace... I always pictured a hallway jutting out from behind it b/c there's a picture or a sculpture or something that is in the corner and then I thought the hallway went out from there. It's hard to explain without seeing the show and I can't even think of an episode that would illustrate it.

Eek The room across from Martin's bedroom

Episode 1.09 Oops

Bulldog: Thanks, Doc. Hey, I hope it's okay, but I could really use a hot shower.
Frasier: Oh sure, sure.
Daphne: Down the hall, second door on the left. Towels are in the cabinet.

That would make the room across from Martin's room a bathroom, wouldn't it?

Of course, according to the blue prints, there is only one door on the left.
