Well the news was broke around a month ago that ABC is planning a Legally Blonde series for possibly Summer 2002! Now what will it be about and who will be in it?

Funny, I thought there was going to be a big screen sequel, since I read somewhere that Reese Witherspoon expressed some interest.
While it is doubtful that Miss Witherspoon will reprise the role in the TV version, I'm sure they'll be able to find a young perky blonde out there. God knows I'm trying. It would be a fairly simple premise to turn into a series, the running situation would be this supposedly "airheaded" sorority girl taking on the stuffy law establishment in her own unique way. There will be culture and personality clashes with the other characters, the usual stuff of the "situation" comedy. |

I loved the movie, but I don't think Legally Blonde should be made into a TV series. I think that a plot like that can get old after a while. I feel the same way about The Fugitive: great movie, awful TV show.

"The Fugitive" is an interesting example.
An old TV series turned into a big screen remake that spawned a short lived TV series. That has to be a new one. I don't think Legally Blonde has the legs to last. Bad pun intended.

I agree and I feel that they'll do what they did for the "Clueless" series take the old cast but replace the lead. For instance I think Selma Blair and Luke Wilson will reprise their roles from the film but Reese Witherspoon won't because she's already said "I don't like doing TV".I also think many people will compare it to Ally Mcbeal (Which is VERY similar IYAM).
Now the next question: Single Camera (No Laughtrack) like Scrubs or Multi-Camera (Laugh Track and Audience) like Friends? |

I hope they use a single camera instead of the multi-camera laugh track method. The laugh track kinda cheapens the show. Much like what happened with Dinosaurs. Soon as they added that laugh track it got stupid.

I agree. Single Camera seems to be the hot new trend among the new sitcoms.
Somebody call Tara Reid. She can take over the role for TV. She needs something to do besides waiting around for "American Pie" sequels and getting drunk at clubs. |

I hope to god that no-one makes a series of that movie! I never saw the movie because I thought the previews looked too ditzy. If there is a series of the movie I wouldn't be surprised if it recieves crappy ratings. And, I'm not trying to be crude. I'm a teenager and I'm sure the film was targeted towards that kind of audience, but good god, I can't stand most films that are targeted towards a teenage audience these days. Most of the films are crap! And, I don't even like most television shows that are targeted towards the same audience either, such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, just to name one. I hope ABC thinks of a better show for Summer 2002. I think a sci-fi type show would be cool, or any genre of show for that matter. As long as the show doesn't have teenage girls walking around like ditzes. One thing for sure is, if there is a television show about Legally Blonde, I sure won't be watching it!

Ah, if only the Networks felt the same way as you do, Plata.
TV would be a much better place if they steered clear of the knockoffs, ripoffs, and spinoffs. Actually Legally Blonde wasn't that bad a movie. Don't get me wrong, It's not going into my personal top ten all time favorites, but it wasn't that bad. But it's a movie that you only have to sit through for 90 minutes, then it's gone. Now seeing the same thing in a weekly series... That's too much for any person to take. |

Actress Jennifer Hall has been cast to play the legal blonde in "Legally Blonde - The Series." Yeah, I don't know who the !@$# she is either. |

Now that doesn't mean I think it's a great idea for a TV show, in fact I don't think it is, especially if they are going to make a sequel to the movie. |
