I would like to think that poor people of all race and skin tone texture who were suffering the same things the fictional character people on Good Times would have been too ashamed to watch a show about being stuck in the inner city ghetto back when this show was still fresh on the air in the 1970's, do you think lower income people back in the day would feel kinda strange to see a sitcom like Good Times back in 1974

That's like asking if rich people were ashamed to watch The Jeffersons.

Well I grew up in a pretty poor neighborhood, and everyone I knew owned a TV. True it was usually B&W and often had a coathanger for an antenna, but it worked. After all a TV is still a lot cheaper than regularly going to the movies or bar.

I don't see why poor folks would feel this way about a show about the poor per se. But Good Times was poorly written and rife with cliches, so in that respect, I think the show would be repellant to many demographics.

LOL. Nice one. I don't see why poor people would be ashamed to watch Good Times, though. Hmm... |
