Default Additional Footage You Notice in the Un-cut Sets

List here additional footage or things you notice that are on the un-cut sets as opposed to syndication.

I noticed in "The Wedding" Part 1, when Eunice calls Naomi a bleach blond bimbo, there's additional dialog between the two. Then Fran stands up and says well you won't have me accompanying you on the piano, and Eunice insults Fran. (There was no dialog between Eunice and Fran in the syndicated version.)

Considering how super excited everyone was to hear of original uncut broadcast masters I'm surprised this thread hasn't taken off. But as for me I'll say that with only having the syndicated versions of the NBC shows for over 20 years I noticed every single cut of "new footage" in every single episode (maybe some other long-time fans are the same). And I was over the moon!

Like '80sSitcoms, I noticed every single additional scene that had been cut for syndication. I would list them but it's just way too many.

Seeing the new scenes is like watching the show for the very first time. If only the original masters for "Cellmates" and "Mama's Boyfriend" weren't lost.

Has that been explained? I was disappointed to see these two were syndicated versions.

The last word from Time Life was that the original masters for those two episodes were "lost to time". The wording seems to be deliberately vague so we don't know if that means they were missing or if the tapes had deteriorated beyond fixing. They swear that everything that was owned by Joe Hamilton's family was turned over to Time Life so unless someone with an early VCR taped the original NBC broadcasts in the early 80's is located, it looks as though the unedited versions will be forever lost.

The worst thing is that Time Life lied. They said everything would be complete, but it turns out they weren't. And I don't know what the hell happened to their ability to clear original music; it has gotten worse and worse.

I asked them on their Facebook page if they could release copies of the uncut versions if we found someone who taped them when they originally aired and they said: "we can't republish videotaped copies." I really don't understand why they couldn't. Someone else had pointed out that there have been instances before in the past where home video recordings were used (I think it was on a Doctor Who set or something).

As far as them disclosing the edits: on Time Life's order page, they did remove the phrase "as they were originally broadcast" after I pointed out to them how incorrect that was, they added a message about those two episodes being the syndicated versions (though it's in the episode guide, not in the description of the set, which might be missed by some) but they've still got the phrase "Every episode in this long-awaited collection is the original broadcast master" which technically isn't true. Also, I received a promotional email from Time Life October 13 and in its description of the set it says "All 130 original, unedited episodes on 24 DVDs" which is completely untrue, so clearly there are people over there who still haven't gotten the message about all the music edits (which aren't posted or mentioned on their website either - just in a note on their Facebook page).

I don't have the DVDs yet but I have that dialogue from an NBC airing from 1985 on tape. This is some of the dialogue I do remember from my tape copy.

Naomi: Sonya, come help me with these bags.
Sonya: I just put up a streamer! What am I, a slave around here?
Fran: If you were, you would have been sold years ago....

Eunice: Who are you calling a big mouth, you bleach blond bimbo?
Naomi: I'm not a bleach blond. This hair is completely natural!
Euince: I've seen more natural hair on a dime store dummay!
Naomi: Oh. I was wonder where you bought your clothes!
Mama: All right, neither one of you is gonna set the fashion world on fire!

Later....

Eunice: I am singing my solo tomorrow!
Fran: Well, who is going to accompany you? Because it most certainly will not be me.
Eunice: Who needs you? An organ grinder can make better music than you!
Fran: That's because he has a better monkey!!!

I have also heard some extra dialogue that has been cut out from the syndicated version. In the Family Feud episode.

All of the NBC episodes had several minutes cut so that the run time was the same as the episodes made for first-run syndication.
