Carson Daly Joins "Today"

Carson Daly has joined the "Today" show, NBC announced Thursday.

Daly will be the new host of the Orange Room, the bridge between "Today" and its audience. Using new media and digital technology, the Orange Room and Daly will help viewers connect to the show like never before.





"'The Orange Room'" is where the newsroom meets the living room. In this space, we will evolve the way news is gathered and delivered by creating a direct and meaningful relationship with our Today audience on any platform," "Today" executive producer Don Nash said in a statement.

"Carson is the perfect fit for this exciting new role. He's passionate about being on the forefront of new media, and has distinguished himself as a socially savvy broadcaster with a unique ability to engage audiences."


Hoda Kotb shared her excitement at Daly joining the "Today" team, tweeting, "Sooo excited you party animal!"





Daly will continue to host "The Voice", which premieres Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on NBC.

The new "Today" gig comes around the same time of insider reports saying the network is deciding the future of "Last Call".
