TV AMC's "Better Call Saul" Will Launch in November 2014

"Breaking Bad" Prequel Spin-Off "Better Call Saul" Ordered to Series at AMC
by Kimberly Roots
9/11/13

Want to keep a fan-favorite character going after the show on which he appeared comes to a close?

On Wednesday, AMC and Sony Pictures Television — the parties behind "Breaking Bad" — reached an agreement to create a prequel series centering on Walter White’s shady lawyer Saul Goodman.

The project, which has been rumored for months, will bypass the traditional pilot process and go straight to series.

The network announced that the one-hour spin-off "will focus on the evolution" of the morally-challenged counselor before he became Heisenberg’s defender.

How soon before? That’s a good question. Bob Odenkirk plays Saul in "Bad", which will have its series finale on Sept. 29; AMC has not said whether the actor will inhabit the role in the prequel, which has the possibility of depicting Goodman at a much younger age.

Default 6 Breaking Bad Characters We Want To See In Better Call Saul

http://whatculture.com/tv/6-breaking...-call-saul.php

Quote:
WARNING – if you have not watched all 5 seasons of Breaking Bad, there will be spoilers. “Tread lightly”.

Now that we have finally caught our breath after last week’s incredible Breaking Bad finale it’s time that we move on, or at least attempt to. The third season of Homeland has recently begun and it’s not long until The Walking Dead returns to eat our brains, yet something still feels missing. Fantastic shows they may be, there is still a huge gaping hole left in our fictional televisual lives and they both only feel like small consolations.

So it only makes sense that we all collectively begin to look forward to Better Call Saul which will undoubtedly be the closest thing to Breaking Bad. We can return to the semi-fictional universe of New Mexico created by the genius that is Vince Gilligan. We’re yet to be given a date as to when it will violate our TV screens, but that won’t stop us from getting ourselves hyped up.

It would be silly to expect something of the same quality as Breaking Bad and it’s a fair assumption that comparing the two when Better Call Saul is aired will not be beneficial to your viewing experience. It’s bound to be different but there is surely going to be some nods to the series from which it spawned. Perhaps we’ll see the RV drive past in the background, or the pink teddy bear in pre-plane-crash condition even could maybe make a difference. But as fun as nods and references will be, there’s only one thing we truly want to know – which Breaking Bad characters will feature?

Before anyone gets clever, we’ll all obviously be pretty damn annoyed if Saul Goodman doesn’t make an appearance. With the huge ensemble of legendary characters in Breaking Bad, it’s very difficult to narrow it down to just a few of whom we would love to see again, whether it be a regular role or one-off cameo – this is my pick for the 6 characters who I want to see in Better Call Saul.

Updates on "Breaking Bad" Spinoff "Better Call Saul"
11/30/13

The details of "Better Call Saul", the "Breaking Bad" spinoff that may either be a prequel or a sequel to the show, have been sketchy.

But in a recent interview with Yahoo TV, writer/ producer Peter Gould hinted that Saul the lawyer will spend some time inside a courtroom.

Gould noted that Saul (Bob Odenkirk) has a clownish look and said, "I've been hanging around in courtrooms lately, and it's not as broad as I thought originally. He dresses in a ridiculous way, he's got billboards, he's got ridiculous ads, but he is a shrewd customer."

When asked if he was hanging around there as research for the spinoff, Gould said, "Yeah, there's a little bit of that. A little bit of research."

Gould also noted why they chose to focus on Saul: "I think we started realizing that this was a character, and Bob was certainly a guy, who could carry a TV show."
