Who remembers where they were and what they were doing when the world changed 12 years ago today?
I was at work IMing with a friend who worked from home when he typed, "Jesus! A plane just hit the World Trade Center!". I told him to quit joking, and he assured me it was real. I then went to yahoo.com where the news was confirmed and then a second plane hit the tower. I live in DC and the next few hours were filled with panicking coworkers who were trying to phone friends and family to let them know they were okay. I was terrified because my husband was supposed to start a new job near the Pentagon and wasn't answering his phone. I left work, against my bosses wishes, headed to the nearest grocery and bought bottled water and canned goods (chili and spaghetti-O's--the good stuff was long gone) and headed home. For the next few days all was quiet except the relentless TV coverage. The air above us was still since Reagan National was closed, and would remain so for the next month or so. I remember taking my dogs on non-stop walks just to get out of the house and burn off my nervous energy. |

I was at work too. With the radio on. When the first plane hit I thought how weird that a plane would hit a building with all the modern technology planes have. When the 2nd plane hit I realized immediately that this was no accident. As soon as my shift was over I drove straight home and turned on my TV and watched the coverage. And the sadly the world has never been the same and never will.

![]() I was on a delivery Job. The attacks happened between my first and second stops, but I didn't find out until my third stop. I was informed that "A Plane has hit the World Trade Center". I turned on the radio (I NEVER listen to morning radio-too much chatter, too little music) and found out all Hell had broken loose. Both Towers hit, the pentagon hit, tower 2 collapsed, and talk of a fourth plane crash in Pennsylvania. When I got to my fourth and final stop they had a TV set on, and I got there in time to see the first tower of the WTC bite the dust. Life has never been the same since them. I'm glad Navy SEAL Team Six got the who orchestrated the attacks, may he burn in Gehenna with the !

I was on my way to work when I heard about it on the radio. Here is a link about the 12th anniversary of 9/11. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/12/ny...anted=all&_r=0

I was at work too. A co-worker told me that she just got off the phone with her mom who said that a plane crashed into the World Trade Center. At the time I didn't even know where the World Trade Center was. A few minutes later another co-worker came around the corner and said that a second plane had crashed. I remember there being a company meeting that day with the speaker revealing a largely inaccurate fatality total. I remember one co-worker saying, "If this is the end of the world then I wanna be at home with my kids, not at work!"

I was in 9th grade and heading from second hour to third. I walked into the classroom and the TV was on showing two sky scrapers on fire (that is what my 14 year old self saw). At the time, I didn't even know what the World Trade Center was. I knew it was something big, because the teacher looked horrified and kept the TV on throughout class. Later on during the day, I remember my history teacher telling us that this was history in the making and that children would be learning about this day just as we were learning about past history. She said we would all remember where we were when this happened.

I met someone who was supposed to be at the "Windows on the World" restaurant on the top floor of Tower One for a Business Meeting at the time the first plane hit the tower. He was about to enter the Holland Tunnel when a driver told him one of his tires was low. He pulled over and sure enough a tire was almost flat. It took him almost an hour to put on the Spare, and when he got in the car he saw the plane flying from the north, he said to himself "That Plane's flying unusually low" then he saw it hit the tower.
He was the only member of his company who survived (because he was delayed).

Here are some links concerning the calendar date of the attacks:

I had just gotten home from school (I was in 10th grade), and I was watching TV with my mother. Just like many others, we believed that the first plane crash was an accident. But then, there was a second crash...
The morning afterwards, our Maths teacher only said "Today is the day after yesterday", and we all knew what she meant. |

I was lucky that day. I worked in lower Manhattan - six blocks away from the World Trade Center. Usually I took the #1 subway underneath the WTC around 8:45, but that Tuesday I had a doctor 's appointment at 7:30 on the Far East side and took a bus downtown. I got to work around 8:55. When the second plane hit we could feel and hear the rumble. We were dismissed at 9:35 and thank God a co-worker suggested we keep moving and walk along the East River. I 'll never forget what the WTC looked like when I saw it around Canal street. It was like something out of the Titanic - it was horrid and I 'll never forget the image.

I was on the computer . My Mom called me and told me to turn on the tv. I was in shock! Especially at first before anybody knew what was going on.

I was doing one of my hobbies, sketch art, and listening to ESPN radio when the story of the first plane crashing broke.
