You don't know what's going to happen and you think that the Evans family is going to finally see a change in their life for the better since Thelma is marrying a rich football player. So you are happy to see Esther Rolle back on the show and then all of a sudden after thelma gets married
Keith trips over JJ and breaks his leg JJ loses his job Keith has to move in the projects with the Evans Wouldn't you say to yourself..............."OMG, the same sh*t all over again with this family experiencing bad luck. "I'm done with this show" You see how easy it was for the show to lose viewers back then when it looked like good things and then the bad sh*T start again. LOL So the show dropping to #84 makes a lot of sense right?

In addition, CBS moved "Good Times" to Saturday nights at 8:30 pm in the autumn of 1978, opposite the second half of NBC's hit crime drama "CHiPs" and ABC's short-lived period sitcom "Apple Pie," starring Rue McClanahan and Dabney Coleman (cancelled after only two telecasts [eight episodes had been taped]!); as a result, "Good Times's" ratings plummeted, and CBS put it on hiatus in January of '79. The series returned in late May to finish out the rest of its season before CBS cancelled it that August. Ironically, three episodes of "Good Times" ("The Art Contest," "The Evans Dilemma," and "Cousin Raymond") were left unaired by CBS after its cancellation that summer; they eventually aired when "Good Times" went into syndication in the autumn of '79. |

There were a few good episodes from season 6:
1. Stomach mumps 2. When Pennys mom returns (one of the best of the entire series for me) 3. when keith slapped Thelma 4. The three part seasion 6 premiere I thought season 5 was way worse than season 6. Season 5 was just awful Overall season 5 and 6 suffered from reallly bad writing. The comedy writing especially was horrid. |

Huh, what are you talking about? If you're referring to my "stomach mumps" episode, that's the episode when Florida and Willona had a falling out? I thought that was HUGE because they had never b4 had anything close to that kind of falling out? It was very dramatic and well acted.
Thelma's best monologue over the entire series was in the episode where Keith slapped her. There were some good moments in season 6. Still the show has run its course. |

If Florida could have been a bus driver long before, maybe they wouldn't have had such money problems, but James didn't want her to work.
