I always felt sorry for Roger, I mean Jeannie was obviously wild about Tony and not Roger, sometimes I don't think Jeannie even CARED about Roger even as a friend, there were multiple times she put him directly in harm's way and didn't even think twice about it, and Tony had to remind her to save Roger.
And Jeannie's sister was also wild about Tony and pretty abusive toward Roger as well. I always thought Roger should have been given a break at least ONCE. I used to always think there SHOULD have been a red headed Jeannie, since there were already a blonde and brunette. I always thought a red headed Jeannie with a purple outfit would have been nice, ~since purple is the opposite of yellow-Jeannie's mother's color, and green is the opposite of pink, Jeannie and her sister's colors. But I think a red headed Jeannie with a crush on Roger would have been good in some episodes, what do you think? |

Roger did seem to get the short end of the stick most of the time. I would have at least like to see him get a love interest on the show even if it wasn't another Jeannie.

If the show had went on for a 6th season, I wanted Roger to have a serious girlfriend on the show, maybe even get married. I liked the girl who Jeannie set him up with in the Jeannie the Matchmake episode. I think she would fit in well with the cast. |

For example, in the episodes: The World's Greatest Lover Everybody's A Movie Star Who Are You Calling A Genie? Here Comes Bootsey Nightingale Jeannie The Matchmaker I know there were times that Jeannie did not-so-nice things to Roger, but I don't think they were any worse than some of the not-so-nice things she did to Tony. Despite that, I think Jeannie did genuinely like Roger and valued him as a friend, especially toward the later years. |

Roger has had several opportunities to get his own djinni, and he usually comes across as smart enough to be sneaky and conniving. While he may not have foreseen Tony getting Jeannie back after Roger got her his first time, he was smart enough to trick her into her bottle to begin with. He should have kept at either trying to trick her, or kept in mind what he really wanted in the following examples of lost chances:
1. Haven't I Seen Me Someplace Before - Roger gets a full wish, unadulterated with rules or restrictions by Tony. He could have easily wished for his "red-headed djinni" right here, and Jeannie would have been obliged to grant it. Roger even got a second chance at this djinni at the end of the episode, and we get an unresolved ending because of his lack of imagination. 2. Indispensable Jeannie - Roger uses the magic of the house to wish for "a beautiful redhead." Hmm, seems like if the house's magic is essentially the same as Jeannie's and can provide anything at all (I doubt Tony kept a beautiful redhead handy for just such an emergency) then he could have wished for his djinni here. And Tony wouldn't have been able to do a thing about it, either! 3. U F Oh Jeannie - This is a weaker possibility, as Roger could have attempted to take advantage of Jeannie's lack of inhibitions and gotten his djinni, though it might not have been a djinni or not as beautiful as imagined. Still, he could have at least tried instead of getting them turned into ducks. 4. Who Are You Calling A Genie? - Another weak possibility, though Jeannie's powers are not necessarily weaker (she did manage to get Roger the brunette he was thinking about.) Had he been thinking of a redheaded djinni or even a redheaded Jeannie, he might have gotten her, and Tony wouldn't have been able to stop him there, either. And there are too many episodes to name where Roger saved the day, and got no more than a fake djinni bottle of champagne, or worse, a peck on the cheek from Jeannie. By the end of the series he could have easily had a talk with Jeannie about arranging a meeting with his dream-djinni. Jeannie may or may not have gone along with something like that, but she would see the reasoning behind it and why it would at least sound fair. There was also the possibility that Jeannie had a younger sister that was also a djinni, as mentioned in "My Master, the Rainmaker." It wasn't mentioned she was a djinni, only that Jeannie hadn't seen her "baby sister" in a long time. It's always been implied that Jeannii was slightly older than Jeannie, and why her powers were stronger. Younger "Jeannee" could have been slightly weaker than Jeannie and a good candidate for serving Roger, what with how he usually reacts to having Jeannie as his magical slave

Sometimes I think Tony was a crappy friend to Roger as well, I mean WHY did he care if Jeannie gave him some things he wanted, I know he was always against Jeannie doing any magic for Roger. Also when Jeannie mentions her baby sister, I wasn't sure if she was talking about Jeannie II *the brunette we all know* or not. But there was one episode where Jeannie II refered to herself as Jeannie's big sister, she says "Just leave everything to your big sister." But sometimes I wanted to think they were twins. |

Considering that Jeannie's mother looks just like her other than being older in looks, it's a safe bet that all of the women in her family look like twins even if not biologically so. We also don't know what Jeannie's father or brother look like later in the series, though we never see a brother throughout the show. We only know that he's Abdullah's father. We also don't know if he's older or younger than Jeannie. |

As one who has written a lot of fan fiction and did "heavy research" (watching episodes multiple times) to keep them consistent:
Jeannie II (brunette) was older than Jeannie. Brunette Jeannie referred to herself as the older sister. There was a baby sister, though we never met her. Jeannie also had at least one brother, Abdullah's father. We know that he was indentured to a sultan. Djinnitaur is exactly right in these. Roger was always written as a man who flitted from girl to girl. He only periodically said anything about settling down, and when he did, there was usually a genie around. I always felt that, under it all, Jeannie wanted to be good friends with Roger and to make sure that Tony and Roger stayed good friends too. Donna |

For the Saturday-morning cartoon Jeannie that premiered on CBS in 1973, she was made over entirely (as with many cartoon adaptations of TV shows), and she did indeed have red hair. Instead of Tony being her master, she had Corry Anders as well as Babu (voiced by latter-day Three Stooges veteran Joe Besser), her male apprentice.
The next-to-last episode of The New Fred & Barney Show (then part of the umbrella show Fred & Barney Meet the Thing/Shmoo, "The Bad Luck Genie," featured another red-headed genie who was very much stylized like the 1973 incarnation of Jeannie, only much younger and given a near-identical (and confusing, especially for speed readers) first name of "Jenny." ~Ben |
