Gertude Hoffmann was already in her 80s at the time "My Little Margie" was filmed, and, I suspect, "Ethel" to Margie's "Lucy." There was one scene where Margie said she was going to have to behave herself lest she get into trouble with Vern, to which Mrs. Odetts responded, "Then what are we going to do for kicks around here?"
