I saw Arsenio on Letterman last night. Arsenio kept talking like he quit his original show because he wanted to do other things. Didn't his first show get cancelled?

Arsenio's first late night show was a major hit - a ratings monster. There is one reason and ONLY one reason his show was canceled. It had nothing to do with ratings. His show was canceled because against the producer's demands, he absolutely INSISTED in bringing on Louis Farrahkan. (I am NOT going to get into who this man is and why his presence was enough to have the network pull the plug on a successful show that was generating MILLIONS nightly). So you are RIGHT. The show was canceled, it was NOT a decision Hall made.

I know who Louis Farrahkan is. I just always thought that Arsenio's show got cancelled because of dwindling ratings.

Default Arsenio Hall, 57, returns tonight with a talk show that's a lot like his last one

http://t.co/Y3NGAMMZYJ

The main difference? The internet took off after Hall's departure, but there will still be barking. "If I was a guy who had never done a talk show before, you could say, 'What's this show going to be?'" Hall says. "But this is going to look like Arsenio took a long hiatus — a long, long hiatus — but I came back, and redid the set." PLUS: Why the new "Arsenio" could be destined for failure.

Diehard Arsenio Hall fan Paul Scheer reviews last night's premiere
"The League" star writers: "We went for 60 minutes with nary a 'WUFF! WUFF!' And that’s not cool with me. That's like going to a Robin Thicke concert and not hearing 'Blurred Lines.' But I'll let Arsenio slide because, aside from that, he did everything you wanted. He did the hits. He didn't re-invent himself, he just dusted himself off and went back to work."
